why I admire Cristiano Ronaldo

It’s 02:15h on Monday morning, and what do you think Cristiano is doing?  No, he’s not out partying, he’s not busy making another baby, nor is he coming up with some more horrific designs for his CR7 line.

Instead, Real Madrid has just arrived home after the Mallorca game, and while the other players are collecting their cars from Valdebebas, Cristiano is asking the security team to let him into the installations, so he can begin treatment on his right ankle.  By 03h, Cristiano has his ankle in ice water.  Half an hour later, he gets a massage and has the area bandaged.  It’s 04h when Cris finally leaves Valdebebas, knowing that in a couple of hours, he’ll meet up with the medical staff again at the Hospital Sanitas La Moraleja for further examination.

And once that examination is over and everyone has a better understanding of the situation of the ankle, Cris begins his recuperation, starting that very afternoon at Valdebebas.  His current schedule is to get treatment twice a day, three hours in the morning and two in the afternoon, alternating between the gym, the pool and the massage table.

His objective is to return to Madrid by the time the first Champions League game comes around, vs. Ajax at home on Sept. 15.

Say what you will about Cristiano (like my slightly mean comments in the beginning), but one thing you can never doubt is his commitment to being as fit as possible for his team.  And I love him for that.

I always knew he was that type of player. He doesn’t care about going home immediately after matches. If you have realized, when he is injured, he is always back playing with the team earlier than his doctor expected. Hopefully it’s the same this time.
I’ve always admired him. Yes, he may be a womanizer, but his dedication and hard work is absolutely inspiring and jaw-dropping.
I can now understand Mou’s view on Cristiano.
Well done Cris. Can’t wait to see you back with the team!

He is a proud professional fotball player who understands priorities and have clear objectives in his mind. His image is distorted because society ranks hypocritical modesty higher than pride, but he is conscious that being in the top of his game is not an easy task. CR7 for ever.

His attitude is awesome and if every player in madrid is like he is, then we will have no problem. He is really working hard for his pay, to show that he really deserve to be the most expensive player, unlike people who are ok sitting on the bench.

Amazing person, he may come off like a prick, but you have to love his dedication to the sport and the team.

yeah, I must say, that I am one of the converters. I never really cared for him, for quite a long time, when he played in ManU, but as soon as some details other than the sex related ones reached my ears, he really started gaining my respect.

tan, shopping ideas, outfits and girls aside, he’s really devoted to the game. this documentary about him, when he says that he is always earlier for the training as he does not want to be stuck in a traffick jam and be late and when he had like tears in his eyes remembering how many people came to Santiago Bernabeu to welcome him – gosh I seriously felt a bit of attraction towards him.

I think he’s one of those people who are either too much hated or too much loved, while all he needs is to be treated normally. I promise Crispy, if I ever see you live I’d just give you a high-five, even if your orange skin would make my pale hands look weird!

this side of him make it’s painful for me to his name being mentioned in the tabloids. people try to rip him apart making him seem so one 1 dimensional and superficial.

There is no doubt that Ronaldo is committed to his team and takes this all very seriously, I think that no matter what stories the press may run about him that he is a great role model and that he will always be an inspiration for me. Long live Cristiano, Long live Real Madrid.

    I agree 100%.
Cristiano is the perfect professional and I love him for that.
Oh well, not only for that …
And I never care about all the crap published about him in the media.
What I saw in 2 long portuguese documentaries about him and read in his book “Moments” and the new one “Suenos Complidos”, show a very different picture of Cristiano than that in the yellow press. He is a a very likeable and caring person. I would even say, besides being that exceptional footballer and that charismatic person, he is a quite normal young man who loves his family and friends.

I like your blog and I also have started a little blog about the 2 unseparables Cristiano & Kaká:

    Hala Madrid!

I hope Kaka learn some of CR7′s determination to come back from injuries and start to show his full commitment to the team!! Not like what he did last year!
