The club wanted to give Benzema a surprise, and that was none other than Ronaldo! Benzema has said many times that Ronaldo was his idol growing up. This is how it happened: Karim was told to go to the Bernabéu to pick up some important papers, and he went to the field without knowing what to expect. And then someone whispered to him to look towards the stands, and there was his idol, one of the greatest football players of all time.
Benzema said he’s dreamed of meeting Ronaldo since he was 12 or 13 years old, and he couldn’t believe it actually happened. He considers Ronaldo the best player of all time. Meanwhile, Ronaldo said one of his friends told him that Benzema does many things like him, and that he enjoys watching him. They both had many good things to say about each other, and Ronaldo also had nice words to see about his former club.
I love mutual admiration!!! And it’s so nice to see that even famous athletes can be starstruck…
