Alcorcón vs. Madrid

Alcorcón’s budget is €1.2 million.  Madrid’s is infinitely higher (about 400 times more).  The average Alcorcón player makes €36,000 a year, which is about what Cristiano Ronaldo makes in a day.  Yet who won?  And not only won, but embarrassed and humiliated?  At least it can’t get worse, right?

Some of the newspapers are calling for Pellegrini’s head, but that won’t solve anything.  Coaches need to be given time, you can’t expect results immediately.  Besides, if you look at past seasons, firing a coach in the middle of a season only leads to more instability, and instability leads to losing.

The only good thing I got out of this game was the sight of Iker at the game, apparently having driven out there on his own despite not being called up for the game.  Captain-worthy actions, which is more than I can say for Guti…
