realvolution…

December 11, 2009

File this one under: good idea on paper, but in reality, just very, very strange.  Even after reading about it, I’m still not clear what this is all about.  Realvolution is supposed to be an initiative formulated to spread the values (sportsmanship, respect, etc.) that make Real Madrid a special team.  And how is this going to be achieved?  By making money off of fans of course.  And by selling a CD and DVD of songs recorded by famous B-and C-list singers collaborating with present and past players (football and basketball), as well as fans and kids – because “both music and football are universal languages.”  The luxury edition even includes a book of the best photos in the club’s history!!!  Okay…

The “movement” is being marketed under the slogan “todos queremos un mundo mejor” (we all want a better world).  Someone please explain to me how singing a bunch of songs about a team going to make the world a better place?

Update: song names include: “She Below,” “Palabras Mágicas” (Magic Words), “Ángeles blancos” (White Angels), “Campo de Sueños” (Field of Dreams), “One Love.”

Present players who have participated in this project include Guti, Raúl, Albiol, Sergio Ramos and Iker.

See for yourself at www.realvolution.org – and learn about the 12 positive values that are produced from the union between music and sports!!

I like the intro video though – anytime we get Iker and Sergio looking all serious and in black and white is good.
