Arbeloa at Cope

January 24, 2010

Álvaro Arbeloa was at COPE the other day, giving a really long interview.  I’ve picked out my favorite parts below from what he had to say:

– Cristiano and Kaká are happy persons, they get along really well with everyone else.  They don’t have any attitude, and are very nice and normal guys.  We laugh a lot with them, with Marcelo and Pepe, because they create a  really great atmosphere.

– everyone gets along really well, there is a great relationship between everyone.  However, he has a particularly great relationship with Xabi Alonso, because they also played together at Liverpool.  The same goes for those that he has played alongside on the selección:  Albiol, Iker, Sergio Ramos.  However, there aren’t really any groups within the team.

-the most clueless player in Madrid is Raúl Albiol – for example, he sometimes comes with the price tags of his clothes still attached.  However, Arbeloa is like that sometimes too – he has left his suitcase in the taxi before.

– Higuaín also enjoys kidding around.

– his wife is pregnant with a girl, who will be named Alba.  He met his wife 10 years ago, when he was 17.

– he’s a big fan of the NBA, and follows all the Spanish players playing there.  His idol is Michael Jordan.

– in terms of football, his idol is Zidane, who influenced him a lot both on and off the field.

– off the field, Álvaro likes going to the movies – he’ll watch anything that is entertaining.  He also likes to read, and he’s not the only one – Xabi, Raúl, Granero also all like to read.
