RvN at El Larguero

Ruud may have been successful in holding back the tears during his farewell to the Bernabéu faithful, but I admit I cried a little watching it.

Anyway, Van Gol spoke to El Larguero after the game and after his press conference, and these are the highlights:

– he thought he would cry, but he didn’t, because he wanted to enjoy the moment.

– he recorded video of the scenes in the Bernabéu on his mobile, such as the crowd shouting his name in the last minutes, to show to his kids in the future.

– he went down to the locker room to say good-bye.

– his kids are Spanish (they were born in Madrid), but he would never let them play for the Spanish national team, because they have pure Dutch blood.

– Madrid will always be in his heart.

– it came out that RvN was re-injured, after his previous injury against Xerez.  He re-injured himself during a practice session, the same day that Rafa van der Vaart and Pipa got injured.  No one knew, because this was never released to the press.

– his best moment with Madrid was winning his first league here, and he still doesn’t know how they won.  He remembers the games against Zaragoza and Mallorca, and the celebrations in Cibeles.

– his family will remain in Madrid for the moment, until he finds a house and school and gets everything ready for them.

Listen to the interview here (from the 13th minute to the 20th minute).

¡Hasta luego Ruud!
