Today is Pepe’s 27th birthday, and the Madrid players surprised him with a cake! At Valdebebas this morning, Pepe was told that he had to go attend the daily morning talk given by Pellegrini out on the field. He thought that was a little strange because it’s not something he usually does, so he asked the coach beforehand and Pellegrini told him that he is part of the team and therefore had to attend.
Once on the field, Pepe began talking with the other players, and didn’t realize that the four captains (Raúl, Guti, Iker & Sergio) were missing. He had his back to the field entrance and all of a sudden the captains came along with a cake, singing happy birthday, and the rest of the squad joined in.
Pepe had these words for his teammates: he told them that without their support and their strength, he would not be recuperating as he is. He said their support is very important to him, and he thanked them for it.
And somehow Pepe ended up with cake smeared on his face!
I love how they’re all friends and support each other.
