Bear with me a moment while I get serious, but I just need to say a few things:
One. I wish the press, especially Marca, would stop their personal vendetta against Manuel Pellegrini. I think he’s doing the best he can and sometimes he just can’t control what happens out there. And would the press also stop making up feuds that don’t exist, i.e. between Higuaín and Ronaldo, Higuaín and Benzema, Guti and the whole world…
Two. I want that attitude that Madrid is entitled to win everything under the sun just because they are Real Madrid – 9 times winner of the CL, 31 times winner of the Liga, etc. – to be gone. That attitude has gotten them nowhere. Before the Lyon game, everyone was basically saying that Madrid would steamroll the French team, just because they were Madrid. This served only to motivate Lyon more, and make Madrid look worse when they lost. So much for your 3-0 and 2-0 predictions, Sergio & Iker.
Three. Just because you have great players doesn’t mean you’re automatically going to win. Enough of the Hollywood-type veilings of players and purchasing of players based on their star power / marketing value. Buy players that we actually need, and have a little more confidence in our youth system. Let’s get back to the football, ok? First and foremost, we are a football team.
