Dudek at Marca [2010-03-23]

Today is Jerzy Dudek’s 37th birthday and to celebrate, Marca brought him a cake and ran an interview with him.  Highlights, as always, below.

– Marca jokingly refers to him as the grandfather of Madrid, and Jerzy jokes back, Sergio has told me that he sees me playing until I’m 48 years old, so I’ll probably retire after Iker does!

– his birthday wish is not for a renewal of his contract, but for the Liga.

– Jerzy talked a lot with Cannavaro about how privileged they were to be that “old” and still be able to play for Madrid.

– he calls Cristiano Ronaldo an “animal” when it comes to striking the ball, and says he has never seen anyone kick the ball like him, and how lucky he (Dudek) and Iker are that Cristiano is on their team.

– he does extra hours in the gym to make sure he will be ready to play if it’s needed, and says he works as hard as when he was 17 years old.
