Also yesterday, we had the Real Madrid players and coaching/technical/medical staff get together to have lunch at El Telégrafo (C/ Padre Damián 44). As is usually the case with these get-togethers, we got the opportunity to see the players express themselves through fashion. And they did not disappoint. The fashion choices of the players fell into these main categories:
The Boring Ones
– Kaká, Rafa and Raúl all had the same idea, throw on a sports jacket over a white shirt, and match that with a pair of jeans. They look alright, but show no originality. Gago is also in a yawn-inducing sweater and jeans combo. Pipita gets included because we’ve all seen that quilted black jacket (or a similar one) dozens of times. See here, here or here.
The Green Ones
-both Esteban Granero and Guti chose to sport bright green jackets, the former opting for a sportier version than the latter. I love that shade of green. Meanwhile, on the other end of the fashion spectrum, Pepe and Iker both chose green t-shirts with similarly ugly prints. Oh Iker, how I long to have access to your closet to be able to burn the majority of your wardrobe (I would destroy the offending articles of clothing, not even give them away, because I wouldn’t wish them on anyone).
The Leather Jackets
– Sergio and Álvaro both chose to wear leather jackets (since I guess they get colder easier than Pepe and Iker), with Sergio opting for a classic sweater and white shirt combo inside, while Arbeloa paired his jacket with a slightly hypnotizing striped shirt.
The Splash of Color
-Diarrá showed up in a bright blue sweater; I love that shade of blue! Drenthe also opted for blue, in the form of what looks like a denim button down shirt (very Drenthe, no?) Meanwhile, Benzema looks pretty staid until you notice that the shirt he is wearing inside his jacket is a nice shade of purple. Ooh la la!
The Best Dressed
My best dressed award goes to Cristiano Ronaldo. Even though he too is wearing a sweater/white shirt combo, he looks hot, not boring. Plus, I like his sunglasses and the tightness of the sweater. And, because I can’t see how high his jeans are here.
