In case you missed it – Real Madrid vs. Valencia [2010-04-18].
One. You think fights break out in front of the mirror in the dressing room prior to games, when the players jostle each other for elbow room to do their hair? In this game, Guti and Sergio both went for a sleek, straight look, while Gago and Cristiano combined depleted the entire hair gel supply of the greater Madrid area. Their styles look pretty similar, no? Which means that Cristiano will be changing his again, soon. Meanwhile, Marcelo went for a natural look and Karim sported a shorter than usual style – I like it. The stripes are gone too.
Two. Kaká was more interested in his phone than the game, at least in the moment he was captured on camera. He’s definitely not updating his Twitter though – there have been no new tweets from our Ricky in a while, and definitely not since the Pellegrini criticism incident. He’s looking very continental European, with the sweater tied around his shoulders like that.
Three. The celebration between Marcelo and Cristiano. I want a full-length version, please. Maybe they can collaborate with Sylvie?
More from the game, including some more fashion observations…
Four. This guy is obviously a fan of Guti – they have some of the same tattoos.
Five. Speaking of Guti, his shoes aren’t the only parts of his kit that have his children’s names – take a close look at his shin guards. However, this time his daughter’s name appears to be spelled with a “y” whereas on his shoes it was spelled with an “i” (I looked very closely). In any case, devoted dads are sexy.
Six. Esteban Granero needs to take his shirt off more often.
Seven. Valencia (and former Real Madrid) keeper César rocked a pink jersey, which is the only color that Iker has not worn through his career. It must have enhanced his abilities, because he had a very good game. Meanwhile, ex-canterano Juan Mata is a perfect example of how those purple Nike boots clash terrifically with orange (tied with Iker’s orange on orange outfit). And Iker demonstrates that his outfit is the product of a marriage between Madrid and Valencia’s kits.
Eight. I leave you with one of Iker’s great saves from the game. Is he back?
