the Tuesday face-off – vocal skills

April 27, 2010

This week’s face-off was was inspired by the appearance of Ricky and Sergio in the “Ay Haití” video.  I’ve seen a number of Real Madrid players singing (or attempting to sing) so I thought that would be perfect for a face-off!

So, this week we have, in the following order, Arbeloa, Xabi, Iker, Drenthe, Cristiano, Sergio and the tandem of Guti and Raúl for your listening pleasure.

I think most of them should not give up their day jobs…

For actual vocal skills, Sergio Ramos is the clear winner.  And for performance, I got to give it to Raúl for sheer passion – he really threw himself into it, didn’t he?

Links to the original videos after the jump!

Arbeloa, Xabi, Iker 1, Iker 2, Drenthe, Cristiano 1, Cristiano 2, Sergio, Guti/Raúl

FYI: The Arbeloa video is of course of the national team singing their Euro 2008 song, “Se Parece Más A Ti” by Jambao; Xabi is singing La Oreja de Van Gogh’s “La Playa” (like him, they’re from Donosti); Iker’s appearances come courtesy of his Groupama commercial and a pre-Euro 2008 event where he got to “duet” with Amaral (the song is “Marta, Sebas, Guille y los demás”); Drenthe’s song is his collaboration “Tak Taki” with U-Niq (the video was shot in the old part of Madrid); Cristiano sings Luis Fonsi’s “Nada es para siempre” and then “Amor mio” for a commercial; Sergio sings flamenco; and Guti and Raúl are at a karaoke bar.

Omg this is hilarious:DDD I’ve seen nearly all of these but together these videos rise to a whole new level of epicness, haha. “Me siento seguro” videos never get old! Sergio is definitely the best singer.

I knew that Sergio loves music, especially flamenco. But that he actually has a pretty good voice singing it… wow never thought that!!!!

This is awesome, they all have amazing voices, even Ronaldo. Is there only this much of Xabi?
