oh, we are all in trouble now!!!
There are pictures circulating of Madrid’s new kit for the 2010-11 season, and they are getting mixed reactions.
However, the more important news related to this for me is that, according to AS, Iker, yes Iker, participated in the design of the goalkeepers’ shirts, given that Iker is very well-known for his, um, good sartorial taste.
The article says the shirts will have a retro touch, and the colors will be dark green and dark blue, a la Arconada (so basically, like the retro jersey he already wears with la selección – not much originality there?).
Anyway, let’s all imagine what other touches Iker will bring to the goalkeepers’ uniforms:
– will the dark blue actually be -gasp- denim?
– will the shirt sleeves and bottom of the shirt already be cut?
– will each shirt have “matching” shorts of one shade lighter a la the orange monstrosity?
– will you get a free pair of big white sneakers if you buy a replica shirt?
– will there be plaid anywhere on the shirt?
– how about an attached scarf?
– or a secret pocket to stash a picture of his true love (or hopefully, a beard trimmer? Or even a megaphone – useful for yelling at his teammates without losing his voice.)
Poor Jerzy, if he stays another year, and whoever will be the third goalkeeper.
My only request for this new goalkeeper shirt is that Adidas makes it out of a very itchy and scratchy material, so that Iker will feel compelled to remove it. At all times.

Who’s idea was it to let Iker help with the design of the goal keepers outfit?!…. maybe they are just keeping him happy by telling him that he is helping and then doing the whole…. “Oh no Adidas didn’t like that idea so we’ve decided to go another way….” lol
Ok this made me laff so much. What in the world were they thinking?… I wonder if Iker will be able to convince them to attach a manbag to the plaid/denim/two-toned/scarved monstrosity.
