this weekend’s talking points

April 30, 2010

What to talk about this weekend with your Real Madrid-loving friends.

One. Sergio Ramos has of late looked like he’s auditioning for a shampoo commercial every time he’s been photographed.  You got to admit that his hair is very sleek and shiny though; I wonder what type of shampoo/treatments he uses right now?  I would bet you that he spends more time on his hair than me.

Two. Some random facts about insurance:  Real Madrid has Cristiano Ronaldo insured for the sum of 100 million euros if he sustains a career-threatening injury.  Meanwhile, Iker’s hands are worth 7.5 million euros (me siento segurooooo), and Esteban Granero has paid a premium of 30,000 euros to receive 3 million euros in the case that he can no longer play football.

Three. Sylvie and Kaká communicating via Twitter – adorable!

Four. Anyone with me in wanting to commit a crime in Madrid in order to go to jail there?  Inmates have recently received visits from Sergio Ramos and Esteban Granero, and a group of prisoners also got visit Valdebebas and the stadium.  I think my crime will be stalking Iker, yours?

Five. Support the Corazón Classic 2010 if you are in Madrid, the game is on May 30 and tickets can be bought via the Real Madrid web site, by phone, or at the stadium from May 24-30.  Kaká, Iker and Sergio were looking quite delicious at the presentation yesterday, and although you can’t see it here, Sergio was clearly influenced by Iker when it came to his outfit, because he was wearing white sneakers (they had black trim though, so they weren’t that bad.  After tricking Sergio into wearing white sneakers, Iker wore black shoes).

Six. And if you’re in London on July 17, you might have a chance to see Cristiano Ronaldo compete in the A:3K Football challenge at the O2.  So far, Cesc, David Villa, Drogba and Steven Gerrard are confirmed, and it is said that Cristiano and Wayne Rooney will participate as well.  The players will face each other in five different skill competitions: power, curve, control, precision and attack.  In the sixth category, hotness, I would say that it’s a tie between David Villa and Cristiano (with Cesc being crowned the winner for adorableness).

Seven. Russell Crowe visits Valdebebas and we get Madrid players posing in silly caps.

Have a good weekend!
