what I missed, part I

It’s time to catch up!  In the two weeks that I’ve been gone, this is what I missed:

One. The Málaga game.  In the end, it didn’t matter what Madrid did, because Barcelona did their part and won their game.  Still, it was a frustrating game for the players and madridistas alike, as can be seen from these pictures.

We even got an extra special pout from Cristiano, although who could blame him?

The players who weren’t called up for the game came along for the ride, but there was no celebration to be had.  Still, it gave us this great image of De La Red and Arbeloa sharing earphones, along with Adán, Kaká, Pepe and Raúl.

And finally, Iker may have shed a few tears, but again, who could blame him?  I would be the first to volunteer to comfort him…

Two. Several days later, Iker headed to Las Ventas to watch some toros with his very good-looking friend Miguel Torres.  Surprisingly enough, I like the purple on Iker, just like I liked it on Pipita.  I also like the white shirt underneath, and the sunglasses (they were much better than this effort).  I’m hoping Iker didn’t ruin our my good moment and wear horrid jeans and/or shoes.  Miguel, meanwhile, is his normal, too-cool-for-words self.

And good news, because apparently, he’s single again!

Three. With the season officially over (although his might have ended several months ago), Drenthe took his girlfriend (and her apparently inseparable Gucci bag) to several social events in Madrid.  She’s pretty, while Roya looks much better in the photo on the right, because a crisp, white dress shirt beats a plaid one every time.

Four. Speaking of girlfriends, Sara Carbonero surprised no one by showing up in yet another pair of hideous footwear.  She wore these boots on two separate occasions, about a week apart, both times accompanying Iker.  And both times, the boots do not go with her choice of outfit.  Luckily for Iker, I’m so put out by this clashing of clothes and shoes that I can’t pay any attention to his 34th plaid shirt of the year.

And remember when I said I wouldn’t comment on Iker and Sara at tennis because I couldn’t seen their shoes?  Well now I can, because I have.  Iker passed the test with black sneakers (as long as they’re not white, he passes) but Sara showed up in what is probably my least favorite pair of shoes in her closet, along with unflattering tapered jeans (she has such a nice figure, why ruin it like this?)

Cuore magazine is also reporting that Iker and Sara are building a house in his pueblo, Navalacruz.  Please don’t let there be space for Sara’s shoes in the house, if this is true.  I say this, because she wore her favorite wedge boots during the visit, while Iker showed off a pair of 1/3 white and 2/3 gray sneakers with red trim, paired with light-colored jeans, of course.  And though you can’t see it, rest assured that the murse also made an appearance.

Five. And still on the subject of girlfriends, it looks like Cristiano has a new one.  I would have to say Irina Shayk, a Russian model, is a big step up from some of his previous conquests.  They spent a couple of days together on a yacht, in the brief period of vacation he had between the end of the la Liga season and Portugal’s training camp for the World Cup.  However, I’m a bit concerned for Cristiano.  As a model (in the fashion sense, not the Nereida sense), Irina’s quite thin, so do you think she’ll be able to… umm… please him in the bedroom?

And does she have the approval of mama Dolores yet?

Meanwhile, I’m loving Cris’s tight little swimsuit and tight shirt (thank you for wearing those Cris!).  As for the cap?  Not so much, although he is able to pull the look off.
