who saw this coming?
File this one under: surprising no one. FP has announced that Manuel Pellegrini has essentially been fired and that he the club intends to hire José Mourinho as Real Madrid’s new coach. Notice I said intends, because the deal is not done yet (TSO has to finalize some details with Inter before he can leave). However, FP must have felt it was important enough to call a press conference just to express his intentions.
I have nothing against Mourinho (if anything, I would want him because he’s got a proven record as a “Barça killer”), it’s just that I hate the instability that hiring a new coach each year brings. In the last 10 years, we’ve had 11 coaches, if Mourinho is included. If you need to refresh your memory, this is the list: del Bosque; Queiroz; Camacho; García Remón; Mr. Cuadrado Mágico Luxemburgo; López Caro; Capello; Schuster; Juande Ramos; Pellegrini; Mourinho.

Mourinho also has a get-out clause in his contract with Inter for €16 million – is Madrid going to pay this?
Who wants to start taking bets on how long it will take the Madrid press to sour on TSO and call for his head, especially as his teams are not known to play beautiful football?
i agree with you on this hiring/firing business but iam SURE pellagrini would have stayed for next year if mourhino would have stayed in inter till his contract finished ( whis is nxt year) but since he’s already won all the awards he could possibly win, he decided to leave. now madrid couldn’t say no because if we refuse mourhino now, we would not be able to get him for a long time ( even after that mourhino might refuse)….its just bad luck on pelligrini’s side.
and about mourhino’s contract with inter, i heard if he would win the champions leauge with inter, he could leave without having to be paid.
thats why on the website the president said that they are waiting for mourhino to finish the business with his contract so i’m guessing we wont pay for anything.
but mourhino was offered a 4 year contract…i doubt he’ll stay tht long….
