Marca has an article in today [2010-06-02]’s edition detailing the sort of changes that TSO would like to implement.
For starters, he would like the training sessions to start at 10h, instead of the 11h from previous years. Players will be required to be at Valdebebas by 09h, and eat breakfast together. Mourinho himself will be there by 08h.
Following the training sessions, the players are encouraged not to leave quickly. There will be talks and video sessions before and after the sessions. In weeks where Madrid only plays one game, there will be days with double sessions.
Mourinho is also going to close the training sessions to friends and families of the players. In the past, they had the use of a VIP zone where they could watch the training sessions.
Meanwhile, with regards to the preseason, the players not participating in the World Cup will be due to report in on July 16 to begin training in Madrid. The other players will be incorporated in at the end of July or at the beginning of August, with the preseason to take place in the U.S. (probably in Boston and Los Angeles), rather than Ireland as was previously planned. The Asia tour is still up in the air at the moment, because the Liga season may begin at the end of August, and because Spain will be playing a friendly on Aug. 11 against Mexico.
TSO has already met with the sporting directors, the director of marketing, the chief of security, and the chief caretaker of the field at the Bernabéu in his two days as Madrid’s coach.
