Real Madrid World Cup results
A (very brief) recap of the results of the World Cup games featuring our Real Madrid players! For the latest on Spain, go to my other blog!
Rafa van de Vaart started in the Netherlands’ 2-0 win against Denmark, although the Dutch team didn’t score all their own goals, but got some Danish help on the first one. Zinedine Zidane showed up at the game, and was seen chatting with Michel Platini.

Meanwhile, Kaká’s Brazil beat North Korea 2-1 on Tuesday in Johannesburg in a match-up between the top-ranked team in the tournament and the lowest-ranked team. Maicon has quite a brilliant goal, which AS compared to one from Roberto Carlos vs. Tenerife more than a decade ago. Ricky didn’t have a good game – AS said he was “unrecognizable” and that we “hardly saw him during the game.”
But he looked really handsome prior to the game, if that is any consolation!

And Cristiano’s Portugal only managed to eke out a 0-0 draw with Cote d’Ivoire. Pepe didn’t make an appearance, and Cristiano got a yellow card in the 21st minute for exchanging words with Ivorian player Demel after he (Cris) was brought down by a sliding tackle. For a second, it looked like Cris was going to take on the entire Ivorian team by himself! And if it’s any consolation, at least he looked very nice in the green Portugal warm-up shirt.

After the game, Cris walked off the field arm in arm with Didier Drogba. I can imagine the conversation: “Nice game.” “You too.” And then talk about who looked hotter on the Vanity Fair cover.
