when it rains, it pours

June 22, 2010

And our World Cup tally is now at 5.5, thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo goal, one of Portugal’s seven (!) as they routed North Korea, and an assist.  Perhaps North Korea was playing that goalkeeper that was originally a striker?  (They weren’t, but they might as well have).  And Cris even managed to juggle the ball with his neck during his goal!  Watch it here.  I like the red kits by the way.

This was Cristiano’s 23rd goal with Portugal and his first since February 2009.

The other good thing about the game?  It rained, so a wet Cristiano Ronaldo.  The only thing that could even top that?  Cristiano showing off his abs while wet.

Cristiano received the man of the match award, which he promptly handed over to teammate Tiago, whom he considered the best of the game.  As for Portugal’s last group game against Brazil, he said that had talked with Kaká, who was sad that he won’t be able to play that game.  Cris said he would have liked Kaká to play, since that would make the game more spectacular, but recognized that it would be easier for Portugal if he didn’t.
