Spain takes the battle of Iberia

In the battle of Iberia, it was Spain 1, Portugal 0. That also means Vicente del Bosque 1, Carlos Queiroz 0. So there.
Anyway, in terms of the Madrid angle of this game, it started off well. Cristiano and Pepe, as they made their way down the Spain receiving line, gave hugs to their teammates (Iker, Sergio & Xabi) and also to their La Liga rivals (Pepe hugged all the Barcelona guys as well). And then captains Cristiano and Iker shared another hug after the coin toss.

At the end of the game, Pepe was seen hugging Iker and Sergio again. Cristiano was another story. Angered by the loss and his own ineffectiveness against the Spanish defense, he sort of stormed off the field, spitting at a camera along the way. Pepe also visited the Spanish locker room, which Cristiano didn’t do. [I guess that means no pictures via Twitter!] Pepe also said that from now on, he’ll be cheering for his Madrid teammates and Spain.

Cristiano would later say that “I’m a human being, I am suffering and I have the right to suffer alone.” He added that he was “devastated, completely desolate, frustrated, and unimaginably sad.” Poor Cristiano!

The next Madrid-World Cup game we have to look forward to is on Friday, when Rafa’s Netherlands takes on Kaká’s Brazil!
