one of us has made it!
Congratulations to the Netherlands, who are in the World Cup finals! So we’ll have at least one Madrid player in the final, but hopefully six by the end of tonight! Of course, right now we could have four, in the very orange forms of Rafa van der Vaart, Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben, and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
The picture on the left and the game are probably the stuff of Madrid nightmares, since Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder both scored and shone for their country, much as they did for their new teams this past season after Madrid sold them. Oh, and Wesley is currently tied with David Villa (another player we could have had) as the top goalscorer in the tournament.
Other notes: it looks like the beard growing contest is over! And Sylvie is already in Johannesburg! Rafa is also wearing the Balance Xtreme bracelet, much like the entire Spain team, and even his undershirt is completely orange! Oh well, it all goes very well with the orange Nike boots.
Meanwhile, another ex-Madrid player, Christoph Metzelder spoke to Radio Marca. Regarding the Germany-Spain game, he said that Spain had been his favorite, but after seeing Germany’s performance in its last several games, he’s changed his mind. Metze also had nice words for Iker: “he’s the leader that this team needs to triumph.”
He also revealed to Bild that he will continue trying to lure Raúl to Schalke, his current team: “he has a lot of experience and his presence will be a great boost for this team.”
