Here’s what their now former (sigh) Real Madrid teammates had to say about Raúl and Guti.

Raúl

Iker: he’s a symbol of Real Madrid.  A good captain is defined in both good and bad moments, and knows how to lead in all moments… he has helped me to grow as a person and as a player… The grand history of clubs are written with great players, and Raúl is one of them.

Cristiano: from the time I was a kid, I dreamed of playing with Raúl.  It has been an honor to share the dressing room with him and I wish him all the best in the new stage of his life.

Kaká: Raúl is an impressive player, very important for this club.  He’ll always be part of madridismo and his exit leaves both players and this team nostalgic.

Xabi: Raúl represents all the values of Real Madrid.  He’s a symbol and forms part of the history of this club.  Playing 15 years for Real Madrid is not easy and if he has done it, it’s because he’s a magnificent player, a unique one.

Pepe: the 16 seasons he’s been in Real Madrid speaks of his quality.  I have a special affection for him because he’s been very concerned about me ever since I got injured.  He had the thoughtful gesture of leaving the bench and accompanying me to the locker room.  I will never forget this.

Drenthe: Raúl is a great gentleman of football and a magnificent captain.  He was always very kind to me and took care of me a lot.

Lass: I remember when I was young, I would watch Real Madrid games to see Raúl.  He’s helped me a lot since I arrived.  For the rest of my life, I can say that I had the privilege of playing with Raúl at Real Madrid.

Benzema: a great person and a symbol of Real Madrid and Spanish football.  Raúl is an example for all footballers and especially young ones.

Dudek: a great professional, an example for all both on and off the field.  He’s also a great person.  It’s been a pleasure for me to have been able to be by his side and share a locker room and team with him.

Adán: a part of the history of Real Madrid leaves with Raúl.  He’s a reference for all the players that come up from the youth team.  He’s an example of hope, work and professionalism.  It’s been a pleasure to have shared the locker room with him and I wish him all the best.

Marcelo: Raúl is a reference for all that that Real Madrid signifies.  Raúl will never forget about us and we will never forget about him.

Gago: he’s one of those players that all fans identify with, because all madridistas identify with Raúl.

Arbeloa (via twitter):  his legacy is his courage, his dedication, his ambition and his love for football.  Thank you capitán. / I’ve grown up watching him play every Sunday.  Today he leaves us and with him, dozens of records, hundreds of goals, thousands of unforgettable memories… / Today Raúl says goodbye after 16 years at Real Madrid.  I was 11 years old when he made his debut at the Romareda…

By the way, King Juan Carlos I also talked to Raúl yesterday, to congratulate him on his career with Madrid and to wish him luck in the future.

Guti

Iker: a great person and a great captain is leaving.  He may leave, but he will always be part of Real Madrid.  He’s one of the most talented players I have ever seen.  I’ve known him for 10 years and he has an enormous heart, and I consider him a great friend.  I’ll miss him a lot.

Cristiano: when you’re young, you dream of playing next to a player like Guti… fortunately that dream came true.  When I played with him, I realized that he has a unique left foot.  It’s been a privilege to play with him and I wish him all the best.

Xabi: Guti is a genius.  He’s the most special player I’ve ever played with.  As a person, he’s generous, special and affectionate.

Kaká: a great person and a great player.  I learned a lot from him in the year we were together.  I knew of his quality before coming, but when you play next to him, you realize how impressive he is as a footballer.  I enjoyed playing with him and he’ll always be in our hearts and in the hearts of el madridismo.

Pepe: a wonderful person and a superior player.  His left foot is incredible and he’s capable of finding teammates in situations where no one else in the world could.  It’s been an honor to play with him and our achievements will always be his achievements.

Benzema: I will never forget that pass – the taconazo in the Riazor – it was impressive.  From the time I arrived, he’s taken care of me and always talked a lot with me.  On the field, he’s a real phenomenon, one of the best player I’ve ever seen.

Drenthe: Guti has eyes on the back of his head.  I’ve learned a lot in our years together.  I like his style both on and off the field, because he’s a great player and a great person.  I’m going to miss him a lot and he’ll always have me as a friend.

Marcelo: He’s great as a person and as a player.  A great players and a friend is leaving.

Granero: after spending a year with him, I’m still in debt to him.

Sergio: one of the greatest players in the history of Real Madrid is leaving.  I’m going to miss him a lot because he was a teammate and a great friend.  He’s a fantastic person, with a heart that many people don’t know about.  I’ve been close to him since I arrived at Madrid.

Albiol: he’s a phenomenon as a player and as a person.  I would make a statue of him at the Bernabéu.

Arbeloa: as a canterano of Madrid, Guti has been one of the references for us.  He’s an example for everyone and for we’ve learned the values of the club from him.  I’m going to miss his personality the most.

Álvaro also had this to say on twitter (I am assuming it refers to Guti).
