why Madrid is like the UN

August 6, 2010

Rafa van der Vaart has become Sami Khedira’s translator, as he is the only one that speaks German (from his days with Hamburg).  He’s been translating Mourinho’s orders to the German, and the rest of the squad has been teasing him by applauding each time he does so (cute!).  Khedira will start Spanish classes when the team returns to Madrid.

And the same thing is happening with Christoph Metzelder and Raúl over in Germany, with the former helping to translate between German and Spanish for the latter.  And not only in practice sessions and games, but also in interviews.  Watch one here!

yeah That was actually what I innitially thought. They were on the same flight to LA (34h!!!! as they got stuck in London missing their connecting flight) and Rafa could introduce. Even though I thought Khedira could speak english as well, as Mou does as well?

anyway, its good for Rafa as well, as he can practise his German again, as he became lazy lately. And Metzelder speaks Spanish too well so theyd probably talked in Spanish.

Yeah I have seen that interview. Really good translations. Although, I understand Raul perfectly. 😀 Miss him too. But Im actually glad to see him on the pitch. Lately I only felt sorry for him with all the critics and the long times on the bench. I can understand him completely. And I actually admire him to do this step. I mean others go to US or Saudi to get big money and run out their carrier. He instead choose a real challenge. One of the toughest coaches of the BL when it comes to training and the expectations on him are sky high since Schalke hasnt won the championship for 50 years or so.
