another random collection

August 7, 2010

While we look ahead to Saturday’s game (at 19:30h local time, or 04:30h on Sunday Spain time), here are some bits and pieces of random Real Madrid news, photos and videos.

One. Sergio Canales’ teammates on the U-19 team nicknamed him “Guti,” probably because they’re both blond, left footed and Madrid players.  Will this nickname follow him to Madrid, since we already have a Sergio?

By the way, when I write “Sergio,” it refers to Sergio Ramos.  Thoughts on what we should call Sergio Canales?  I’m leaning towards Sergio II.

Two. The Galaxy’s web site posted some pictures of Sergio and Xabi being mobbed by fans as they arrived in Los Angeles, no doubt in part due to the Galaxy’s call for the paparazzi, both professional and fans, to come out.  Were fans left wondering where Iker Casillas was?

That faux pas (in so many ways) aside, how cool did Xabi and Sergio look?  They’re both nearly perfection.  I especially like how Sergio’s hair, shirt, shorts and skin all complement each other (he’s a golden boy, no?), so much so that I’m willing to overlook that purse.  It’s not even a man bag, it’s a purse.

Three. Watch a video of Sergio being interviewed by RTVE here.  He talks about the World Cup, saying that it was a shame that the final came against the Netherlands, because he has a lot of friends there, and he went to comfort them after the game.  Sergio is so sweet!!!  He also talks about his new coach and Kaká, but unfortunately is not asked about the one thing everyone wants to know, his twitter account!!!

Four. Kaká the “big moose” left the clinic in Belgium where he was operated on, and took a private plane back to Madrid.  Watch a video of Ricky talking to the press here, but for me the most interesting part was Carol’s outfit.  It looks like something a 60-year-old would wear, and I hate that she matched gold and silver together.  And repeat after me, Madrid players and wives: just because it’s Louis Vuitton doesn’t mean it’s stylish or in good taste.

Five. Here is Cristiano waving to his adoring subjects fans as he leaves Madrid’s last training session in Los Angeles on Friday.  Seriously, he looks like a king or a president or even the pope.  He’s perfected that regal wave too.

Six. Can’t wait to see David Beckham interact with his old teammates when the Galaxy take on Madrid!  He should be in the stands watching the game.  Who misses seeing Iker and David together?

Im happy the press is quiet with their twitter, I saw many journalists follow them and also talk to them (for example when Álvaro changed his name to aarbeloa17 he was promptly asked if he changed his shirt number). But they dont refer to them publicly so far as I hope, they can continue with it.

On twitter and in other discussions we just refer to Sergio Canales as Canales or BB Sergio… 😀

Xabi and Sergio just look divine! It took me a while to read this post cause I kept scrolling back up to gawk at that picture. Note that I refuse to acknowledge the fact that Sergio is carrying a purse. Hmph..

I love that Kaka is wearing an Abercrombie & Fitch shirt! he looks like a teenager in that outfit.
it looks like cristiano isn’t having an affect on his choice of clothing!

I think my mother has the same purse as Sergio. Not cool, dude. The rest of the outfit is surprisingly… not bad. Do I sense a change in the wind for our fave fashion victim?

“Just because it’s Louis Vuitton doesn’t mean it’s stylish.” – can we put this on like… bracelets and shirts and little motivational posters and plaster them everywhere RM go? It might actually sink in.
