Pipita at AS

Pipita spoke to AS yesterday, and they have the interview out in today’s edition! I’m glad there is at least one newspaper out there who values Gonzalo Higuaín and doesn’t have a vendetta against him! He really is one of the best players we have. And it doesn’t hurt that he has a cute little smile… Highlights from the interview:
Q: You were Madrid’s pichichi last season, Argentina’s during the World Cup, and now during the pre-season with Madrid. Your streak is continuing…
A: I’m happy for how I started the pre-season. It’s still too early to draw any conclusions and to think I’ll be the pichichi of this team at this point is a mere anecdote. My objective is to be the pichichi of the Liga when the season ends.
Q: How many goals would you say you will score this season?
A: Last year, I scored 29 in all competitions. That was a good number, and this year I hope to improve on that. Let’s see if I can get to 30 goals. That’s my objective to help the team.
Q: What did Mourinho say to you when you arrived?
A: The first thing he said was that you have to go all out for your teammates and that we’re a team that needs to win a title. It’s vital for us, because we can’t finish another season empty-handed. We deserve to win something and let’s see if we do.
Q: Which one would you like to win?
A: We’ll try to go for all the titles, but it’s clear that I hope to win a Champions League.
Q: What do you think about Raúl’s departure to Schalke?
A: It’s a shame that he left. He made this decision and you have to respect it. He’s been one of the football greats and of Madrid. We wish him all the luck in the world and a lot of success. We have to support him. He helped me a lot and I’m very grateful to him.
Q: Are you feeling his absence in the locker room?
A: He was the captain from many years ago and it’s strange not seeing him in the locker room, but things like that happen in football and you have to adapt.
Q: Did you speak with [my own words here] the four musketeers + Iker after they won the World Cup?
A: I sent them congratulatory messages, but I didn’t want to bother them because I wanted them to enjoy it.
Q: You now have a teammate in Madrid that was also your teammate in the World Cup: Di María. What can he bring to Madrid?
A: He’s a footballer that creates danger on the wing, which is something that we lacked a little last season. He also has speed, technical skills, he passes, shoots… Di María can bring a lot to this club. He’s a great addition and will allow us to play more on the wings.
Q: And what is your opinion on the other signings?
A: I knew Pedro already from Getafe and he’s a very interesting player. Khedira is also a great footballer, he started the entire World Cup with Germany and I’m sure all of them will bring a lot. And with regards to Canales, he’s a footballer with a great future and I’m sure he will also contribute a lot.

Pipitas smile so kills me …. 😀 And hes smiling a lot lately! (with every reason)
Apart from that Im also glad that AS values him! And his interviews are always interesting. You can feel his love to the club. And that makes him even more adorable. O=)
