Have the president and the board of Real Madrid finally started listening to the coach?
This summer, we’ve spent only €59 million on new players to date. I say only because last summer, that amount was €254 million, €65 million of which was just for Kaká. In other words, the sum splashed out for the five new players for this season (Canales, Khedira, Pedro León, Di María and Carvalho) is actually €6 million less than what we paid for one player, Kaká (who of course, didn’t have his best season last year and is currently injured and out for four months).
Maybe this means that we’ve begun buying players that we actually need, rather than based on their marketing value. I say it’s about time! We need to start thinking more about titles than shirt sales…
true, una. So true! Still my favs are Canales & Pedro Leon so far. Really fun to watch them. Carvalho makes sense. I think I have to wait for the performances of Di Maria & Khedira. Not sure about them yet. Lets see.
Tonight Bayern – RM. Cant wait though the preparation was minimal for our internationals. Did you know that it was almost cancelled because the city of munich asked for a fine in case wed show off our shirt with the sponsor? (theres a betting monopol in germany and its not allowed for other companies to ad). The bayern officials were really annoyed and said sorry to RM. I presume wed play without the bwin? (I find these much more sexy anyway :P). Should be the debut for Khedira & Carvalho.
I prefer the sponsorless shirts too! But if we have to have a sponsor, I’d prefer Madrid to go the route of Barcelona, who doesn’t receive anything for promoting UNICEF, and who also agreed to donate to UNICEF €1.5 million per year for five years. You have to respect them for that, especially since they could earn about €20 million from having a shirt sponsor.
agreed. But its different with the betting/gambling ads here. Even the officials of Bayern critisized the monopol. They say by that, the German football looses 400m€ per year by that!

Totally agree with you there!! Time to think about the quality of RM not its face…does that metaphor work? Although I am more of a Barca fan (don’t kick me out!), I do still watch RM games and root for the players from the NT.
