in case you missed it – the secret note edition

In case you missed it – Real Madrid vs. Peñarol (Trofeo Santiago Bernabéu) [2010-08-24].

Well, Real Madrid is taking the day off and so I am too from this blog, so here is a “edición lite” of the in case you missed it for the Peñarol game.  We can talk about Iker’s campus (and the flip flops) and Sergio’s interview and him being “súper orgulloso” later on!

One. Near the end of the first half, José Mourinho was seen taking notes in his little notebook.  He wrote a lot of things, even having to flip pages at one point, then ripped out some pages, and handed them along with instructions to assistant Aitor Karanka.  Karanka studied the notes for a bit, and then was seen heading to the locker room several minutes later with the notes and other folders in hand.

What do you think Mou was writing so secretively?  Since I promised no technical football talk for this blog, my guesses are: Sergio looks really good with the short hair – tell him to keep it up; I don’t like how the grass looks at the midfield – get FP to change it; I need a mirror installed on the underside of the top of the bench so I can see how I look during games; my outfit is so much better than Pep Guardiola’s; and I’m hungry – order a salad and fruit for me for halftime.  Dressing on the side.

Two. No idea what Sergio was doing here before the game with Marcelo, but it’s so cute!

Three. And here they are – the six finalists for the title of Mr. Real Madrid 2011!

Four. Madrid basketball players, including Jorge Garbajosa, Sergi Vidal, Sergio Rodríguez, Nicola Mirotic, Felipe Reyes, Clay Tucker and Sergio Llull came out to support their football counterparts; I hope our footballers will return the favor, especially now that Raúl is gone!  Cristiano sort of did on Sunday, since Garbajosa, Llull and Reyes are all part of the Spanish national team.

Five. Sergio & Sami basically have the same hair.

Six. Xabi really knows how to pose.  Even when he’s waiting to take a corner kick, he looks incredible.

Seven. Due to Fer’s unfortunate injury, Ángel di María had to come into the game, and he wasn’t prepared.  Here, he’s taking off his shirt to put on his jersey (he’s on the far right).  And he scored a fantastic goal, although he really, really needs to get a new goal celebration.

Eight. If the football career doesn’t work out, Esteban Granero has a shot at becoming a Rockette.

Nine. I wholly approve of the (front of the) new jerseys, especially how transparent they are when they get wet, and how nicely they cling to some bodies.  Work it Sergio!

Ten. Let’s see David, Mou’s instructions for you are on page 432, let me quickly flip to it.

Eleven. Poor Cristiano suffered from aggressive play throughout the game and received treatment immediately after coming out.  By the way, Irina was at the game with Cris’ family in their box.

Twelve. FP to Iker: go get the cup yourself.  I’m too important to handle menial things like that.

Sergio (thinking): being a captain’s great!  I’m surrounded all the time by súper shiny things!  And Iker!  ¡Yay!

Thirteen. Did you know that Peñarol are known as the carboneros?  Yes, like Ángel’s father or Sara’s last name.  One newspaper article pointed out that Iker was so, so brave and valiant because seeing his girlfriend’s last name on the collars of the opposing team’s shirts didn’t faze him at all.

Lol, there were more closeups of Mou than any of the players!
The shirts look great (for obvious reasons ;D) but I just don’t get the extra fabric around the neck that looks like a shirt collar. It’s probably there to absorb more sweat, but it still looks off putting.

Just a little thing I noticed, during one of the free kicks closer to our goal line, you could hear Iker frantically shouting Xabi’s name. That reminded me of the “GUTTTIIIIII!!” incident, lol 😀

What was the Guti incident? I’m hoping to see Real Madrid play when I visit in November. Do you know when I can buy tickets (I live in the states). Would love to see El Clasico as I will be in Barcelona at the time, but those will be way too expensive for me!

As for tickets, they only go on sale about a week before the game. Non-season ticket holding members have first priority, then carnet madridista holders, and then the general public, if there are tickets left over. You can either buy them online or at the box office in the stadium. It’s best to buy directly from the club in order to avoid any scams.

Oh did you think that I was there watching it at the stadium, or where you asking Madridista? :S Because I was watching it on TV lol! But I wish I really was there! Well I was in their locker room in my imagination, but that’s not enough haha 😀
:O Watching El Classico would be worth the money! I wouldn’t buy groceries for a..week! (I obviously love food lol..)

btw I was actually disappointed why there hasnt been any act for our WC winners. Madridistas honoring them in the Bernabeu would have been really nice!

    so great!!!!

I was there, but I had to come here to see what you would write about the match as I was so super happy that I am there that my memories are far from objective and I have no idea what was shown on tv. Your blog is again great!!!
one sentence: geeez, the footballers look even hotter seen live. Sergio – wow, wow, wow. I have no words at all. and my God, Cristiano’s legs while running.

Was there an interview with Sergio afterwards, what happened?

cheers from Madrid (what a great city, I am here for the first time and already missing it, I definitely have to be back here asap!!!) believe me or not, I thought of you Unamadritista while running around the city, being grateful for your cool blog!
