Both Real Madrid and Getafe are playing away from home on Sunday, Madrid in Palma and Getafe in Barcelona, against Espanyol. And both teams were stuck on airplanes at Barajas yesterday, as only one runway was available for planes to take off from (Madrid is forever under construction!).
So, during that wait, Jordi Codina killed time by tweeting. He took pictures of his teammates and wrote funny captions on his twitter. For example, here’s a photo shy Iván Marcano. That caused Marcano to tweet back, “how annoying is the goalkeeper today.” Jordi’s reply? He was bored. Then Jordi told us that we shouldn’t inflate the life vest while on board the plane. But the funniest tweets were about Dani Parejo. First, Jordi said he was studying. When asked what Dani was so intently looking at, he said, Cuore and also In Touch, because he had already finished reading Semana and ¡Qué Me Dices! (all of these are gossip magazines). And then, Jordi tweeted this picture of Dani sleeping! Jordi also said that it was super boring on the plane, that he should consider becoming a paparazzi, and that luckily, Dani doesn’t use twitter.

And at one point, it turned into a competition to see which Madrid team’s plane would take off first. Jordi was exchanging tweets with Mario Torrejón, a sports journalist with Cadena Ser who was traveling with Real Madrid. Mario tweeted that they had also been waiting on the plane for an hour, and Jordi replied that they had it worse, because they were Real Madrid and Getafe is more humble!
And once Getafe arrived, Jordi wrote, “my friends at Madrid haven’t arrived in Mallorca yet, hehehe! They’re not answering me… hehehe! We’re 1-0 up on them… hehehe!!! That led to the following exchange between him and Arbeloa. Álvaro responded saying, “we’ve already arrived, you idiot.” To which Jordi tweeted, “hahaha, us first!
Jordi repeated this message with this tweet to Mario, saying, “hahaha, we beat you!!!!” And Mario had a fun tweet as well, saying to Arbeloa, “the people didn’t scream as much when we arrived [compared to when the Real Madrid players arrived]!
The only thing I didn’t like was that Jordi didn’t tweet anything about Miguel Torres! Other than that, it was hilarious! I wish several of our players were more active on twitter like Jordi… And seriously, the players from our cantera are really overlooked in more than just their playing abilities…
And how cute is this profile picture of Jordi and daughter Claudia? It was taken on her birthday, when she went to see her papá train, and asked if she could join in! She’s so big now – I remember when she was just a baby, and Jordi brought her out to celebrate the Liga that Real Madrid won in 2008!
