the latest
One. Transfer market news – Royston Drenthe has been ceded to Hércules for one year, and Rafa van der Vaart (boooo) has been sold to Tottenham, although the transfer is not yet complete, because the required documents arrived 10 minutes after the deadline closed. The Premier League will announce their decision today on whether the transfer is valid. Is it too mean to hope that the Premier League rejects the transaction and that Rafa can return to us?
If both transfers go through, then Özil will wear the number “23” and Mateos the “15.” If Rafa is unable to go to Tottenham, then Özil will take on the “15.”
Two. Injury news – Pepe trained normally and with the team for the first time yesterday since being injured against the Galaxy three weeks ago (he also had the time to joke around with Marcelo). It looks like he’ll be ready to be called up for the next game against Osasuna next weekend.
And it’s so convenient that Cris and Kaká are both injured and recovering, together, no? That means both have an excuse to spend even more time together…
Three. Training news – José Jr. was at the training session yesterday, hanging out with his dad! How come he doesn’t have a personalized shirt with J.M.J. (or T.S.O.J.) on it?
I hope this means we’ll be getting to see the kids of the players as well, training with their dads!
Four. Sergio news – it looks like Sergio Ramos will also be playing as a centerback with the national team, after Carles Puyol had to abandon the training camp with an injury to his left calf. Good, because I don’t want him getting confused due to the switching back and forth between positions!
Five. Mourinho news – he’s not Harry Potter, magic doesn’t exist in real life, but football does. Seriously, TSO said all that.
Six. Player news – in the same interview, Mourinho talked about the two Germans. We find out that so far the only Spanish they know is “buenos días” and “hola,” and that neither speaks English well, that one of the assistant coaches speaks German and acts as a translator, that Özil and Khedira aren’t hanging out with the rest of the group (yet), and that they spend all their time together.
Seven. I love this team news – hello Antonio Adán!

I vote the EPL rejects the transaction!!!! Please stay with us VDV!!
me too me too … what a shocker….boooooo
1. Hellooooo there, Sr. Adán. How very nice to meet you. Would you like to join the official Real Madrid Shirtlessness Club? (Est. summer 2005) They throw the best parties and have the best (or maybe just most?) grooming tips!
2. I’m not sure that I really like Sergio as a central defender. I feel like he’s a better and more creative player when he’s a rightback, so I kind of hope he’ll move back to the side when both teams have a few more healthy defenders.
Not gonna lie, I kind of want the Premier League to be like “no, sorry, too late, you have to keep him.” And then we get another year with Rafa. *prays to San Iker*
I feel the same way about Sergio! I just love when he goes on one of his little walkabouts and helps out up front. This in turn leads to more closeups, which we obviously want! 😀 Despite the fact that he can slither into either position easily, he’s still a lot more restricted when he’s a central defender.
Yeah, not gonna lie, about 40% of the reason I want him at rightback is so he gets more on-screen time. :-p
I was awake all night to see the words “VDV is NOT moving to Tottenham.” And I, today with hardly any sleep searched some reliabe sites to confirm VDV is staying, but NO. And when I read this ” and Rafa van der Vaart (boooo) has been sold to Tottenham” I was literally about to cry. I hope this doesn’t happen. No no no no no.
Cute picture with Mou and Mou Jr.
I want Rafa to staaay!! :S But no worries guys, it’s not official yet (and I hope it will never be!). I’m checking on realmadrid.com every hour.
oh hell no if rafa leaves im seriosly going to stop following real they broke my with raul and guti and now rafa theres only so much a girl can take:(
Ana, chick, I’m with you. I still miss Guti.. and now VdV?!? Its not that I don’t have faith in our youngsters and its not that I don’t wish him buena suerte as he deserves more playing time. But he was/ is awesome, ours, and wanted to stay and fight… he didn’t need to go. Oh well, all the best VdV you deserve better than how RM management treated you, but at least this RM fan will always adore and appreciate you.
I meant broke my heart
Dear Spurs
RAFA IS OURS. Deal with it!
Don’t know what to think about all of this anymore. If the EPL decides that the transfer was invalid, won’t they just sell him off in January, then? They want Rafa gone really badly, it seems.
I hope they agreed on a fee of more than 8 million, because then I’ll be able to rationalize that we were actually trying to make money off of this.
I love your blog, by the way. 🙂
Thanks! The fee was said to be in the neighborhood of 10 million euros.
Bleuurgh…. he’d be (CL) cup tied (I think) so less appealing to the teams that could legitimately challenge for him… but still Spurs?! (no offense to any Spurs fans) but VdV waaaaayyyyy better than that. Still, wishing you (Rafa) all the best and hope you dominate.
P.s. at least Sylivie’s style and general gorgeousness will get the appreciation she deserves,
Ok, it is oficial. The end. Adios Rafa!
Oh no, the first thing i woke up this morning is to check VDV news too. *Sigh* that means no one can help out Ozil and Khedira anymore? I hope Sergio takes them out sometimes. be a big brother to them sergio!
1 ::running away crying::
2 cris and kaka recovering together??lol…
3 adorable kid ❤
4 i love him more on the right back but hey, sergio may rocks any position right?
5 i've no idea whats he talking about..i dont understand spanish..
6 well,they'll learn..the sooner the better.. 😉
7 oh hi there!!(his hips wow) 😛
NOOOO!! real just confirmed it rafa is gone this will b my last coment ive oficially stop following real *sniff*sniff :s
Well, Khedira said today in an interview he goes to Spanish lessons 3 times a week and he understands enough English to know what they want from him during the training.
He was not angry when he heard what Mou said and said he is right, but they are only a few weeks in Spain and he and Özil working hard to integrate very soon.
The reporter wrote in that article that both guys seem very content and OK.
I would link to the interview, but it is in German.
Woody:)
It’s official now! Rafa’s gone!!! :-(((( This is the third mistake this season. :@@
Stop presses! Xabi has tweeted something! (Okay, retweeted, but – he’s logged in to his twitter, and is no longer just “checking” it!)
awwww that’s all the spanish they know?? Even I know more than that and all I’ve been doing is reading your blog. Heck, I know more German than that too. Too bad I can’t fly myself over to act as translator =( let’s hope they get better soon!
