AS’s cover story today is how the successor of Zinedine Zidane is none other than his eldest son Enzo (15 years old), who at present has just been promoted to Real Madrid’s Cadete A team. And of course, he’s not the only member of the Zidane family playing for Real Madrid. Younger brother Luca (12 years old) is a member of the Infantil B team, where he plays as a goalkeeper. And third son Theo (8 years old) started playing at the age of five with Hortaleza club Canillas, known for its “baby football,” and which has a collaboration agreement with Madrid. He could move to Madrid’s Benjamín team soon. As for fourth son Elyaz, he’s still a bit too young, as he’s only four years old.
As proof, AS offers this classic video made by Canal Plus when Zidane retired. If you didn’t see it when it came out, watch it now! And if you’ve seen it before, it’s worth watching again! I’m glad the story gave me an excuse to post about it!
What I like most about it, besides seeing the talents of the little Zidanes (Enzo also has the roulette move!), is the love between father and sons, such as when Enzo is trying to convince his dad to play a game. And when Zizou said he’s tired since he played a game yesterday, when neither Enzo (in the white) nor Luca (in the red, with gloves) wanted Theo (in navy) on their team, when Luca has to jump up to give his father a high five and when he orders his dad to help him out… And I absolutely adore the moment when Theo wants to give Enzo a straight red card (he’s not happy with just a yellow), because it is adorable, and because we get to see what a great dad Zizou is, since most of us only know him as a footballer. And when the boys are rolling around on the ground…
I LOVE Zidane and I’d love to see another generation of Zidanes at the club!
