I don’t know why, but Real Madrid never releases the official portraits (individual or group) of the team, and each year I have to rely on UEFA to publish them on their Real Madrid team page. And, with the first Champions League game tomorrow, they’re out!
A couple of quick observations: there’s obviously no one on the payroll over at Madrid who works in lighting, because more than one player looks washed out. I’m loving the Brazilians’ huge smiles (I’m counting Pepe according to his birthplace here), which are in contrast to the Portugueses’ sullen expressions. Benzema and Gago get the award for most awkward portraits, the former for his fake smile and the latter for not looking at the camera. And Pipita was the only one who went for a head tilt. Finally, 11 out of the 25 players have facial hair.
P.S. – did the goalkeepers get to choose which color jerzy jersey they wanted to wear?
