in case you missed it – the Iker & I are bored together edition
In case you missed it – Levante vs. Real Madrid [2010-09-25].
This was the first time ever that Madrid had not won at the Ciutat de Valencia, after going 5-0 there in the five seasons that Levante was in the first division, and scoring a total of 10 goals against Levante’s one. Oh, by the way, Levante is also the team in the first division with the smallest budget, €17 million, against Real Madrid’s quite vulgar €450 million. Before this game, Levante was also the most scored against team in the first division. And all Madrid could do was eke out a 0-0 draw. Fantastic.
One. Before the game, the four Madrid players who had won the World Cup with Spain were honored by Levante with commemorative plaques. Is Levante going to do this each time a World Cup winner visits? And yes, when the best moment of the game occurs before the game has actually started, it’s bad.
Two. This sums up the game nicely. Team doctor – yes doctor – Juan Carlos Hernández (not pictured, for obvious reasons) got himself ejected in the 79th minute for – according to the ref’s match report – “leaving the bench area while protesting a decision (by the ref), and entering the rival bench area to yell at a member of the rival coaching staff.” He’s my new idol. And good thing none of the players injured themselves in the last 15 minutes then. Although it wouldn’t surprise me to find out that Mourinho can act as a doctor as well.

Three. Iker was bored. And so was I. Except I didn’t have any socks or gloves to play with. Iker ended the game with only one intervention. That’s good, at least.
Four. The Valencian sky was a nice color shortly after kickoff. I could have spent my whole time staring at it instead of the play on the field.

Five. Here we have Cristiano doing his part to make sure that the team will have the possibility of having more children in the future, in case evil dictator coach Mourinho really decides to make them start training at 10h.

Six. Hey, look! For once Mesut is not the guy with the biggest eyes on the field! Yes, the game was so hopeless that even this normal moment was more interesting than the game itself.

Seven. Benzema really loves that water bottle. He clutched it the entire time. Or, he’s just doing his part to protect it from Mourinho.
Eight. A concentrating Cris. He also debuted new boots. What do you think of the pink boots? I like them!
Nine. Peter Lion, his thighs and his thick fluffy hair returned to Levante, the team he played for during the 2007-08 season. He got a nice round of applause when he checked in at the 62-minute mark. It was nice of Mou to let him play.
Ten. The obligatory Sergio Ramos moment.

What a lovely ass he has.
Eleven. And of course, no ‘in case you missed it’ post this season is complete without Xabi’s posing.
And yes Xabi, I will call you after the game!

Twelve. The Mou corner. Mou spent lots of time sitting, and even waited until the half was OVER before heading to the locker room. That must mean that Madrid wasn’t playing that bad (it was still boring though). Iker made a point of saying that Mou didn’t yell at them after the game. Rather, he “encouraged us and ordered us to improve.”
The fans also had fun with Mou. One gave him a thumbs up, and a delusional Barcelona fan displayed this sign behind the Madrid bench. Way to erase your own history there.
The Mourinho quote of the day: “It seemed like a minimum of 10 of them were dead, and then they weren’t. Luckily, no one ended up in the hospital.” This was said in response to Levante’s players exaggerating their pain a bit during the game.

I love your sense of humor. Seriously! And yes, Sergio does really have a fine, fine ass. Thanks for the highlight.
I found the game so boring that I actually fell asleep during the game. *shakes her head sadly* I was exhausted, but even then I usually never fall asleep during a game no matter what.
I was bored too!!! What the hell happened to them after the Ajax game???
Sending the doc off… really! What if…. something serious happens? You never wish but it already happened to us and every second is needed.
I don’t know. I hope they get back on track for Auxerre, and then stay on track! 😦
I find Chris’s new boots a bit too glamourous.:)
And what’s written on the poster in the last pic? Smth about Mou but I can’t figure it out.:)
It’s amazing how many chances Real had and failed to realize them!! I wasn’t bored during the match, I was awfully annoyed with all those missed opportunities that happened every other moment.
Iker was definitely bored, which means our defence was perfect. Unlike our attack.
Mourinho, traductor (Mourinho, translator).
thx:)
but what did they mean? that Mou needs a translator? A translator for Ozil and Khedira?
They’re pretending that during Mourinho’s time at Barcelona, he was a mere translator instead of assistant coach.
I understand now, thank you for the explanation, Una.
I waited for this game. I’ m from Manila and it was 2am here when the game kicked off. I was really disappointed. I thought they were really going to nail this one. But then… blah! Until now I feel bad. I want them to be fantastic. Because I know they are. I just can’ t see it right now. 😦 Still, go boys! HALA MADRID!
PS
I saw Kaka’ s tweet about this game. Wonder how he reacted. Bless his knees.
I guess I didn’t miss anything then. I had to miss this game because of a family reunion and I was sure that I would be missing a goal fest since this was Levante…… guess not 😦
Please let them step up in ch.league against Auxerre ( Mou should know that playing boring football is not going to work in RM even if he wins a title and solidifies the defense)
I actually did miss it, since I was visiting my parents and they live in a strange world of no internet and the only channel that shows football is the Portuguese channel, so I watched Benfica’s match instead. Now, I’m kinda glad I did…
Since this is a Real Madrid blog, I will add…Javi Garcia had a pretty good match. Watching Roberto (former Atletico Madrid keeper) make a save is INCREDIBLY stressful and makes me appreciate Iker even more.
Also, Cristiano’s Portugal teammate Fabio Coentrao scored his 1st of the season, which he also dedicated to his new baby (a month younger than CR Jr), with the same thumb-sucking tribute.
I knew I should have been worried when Sergio tweeted before the game about returning with 3 points….or something like that…JINX!!! But thank you for the obligatory Sergio Ramos moment, nice ass, nice everything!
For anyone interested in ANOTHER Sergio Ramos moment, I made this video the other day…the Nando bits are for my cousin and the rest….for me of course!

“ANOTHER Sergio Ramos moment” don’t mind if I do 😉
HAHAHAHA!! That made my entire day! 😆 oh my God lol! My favorite was definitely winking Sexio. Hahah wow, I don’t even need a power nap anymore 😀
I’m up to a certain stage where I can’t describe how I feel without the accompaniment of drool. I just have to replay that video of Sexioness (and Nando 😉 )
Lol Im glad you enjoyed it, I myself have enjoyed it a bit too much I think….Im going to be heartbroken when the link expires 😦 so get your fix while you can! …I sure will lol I loved winking Sexio too but I think I was more partial to the grinning Sergio, it was like my own private Sexio dance until I shared the vid…whoops! 😉
and I can’t possibly watch it.:( it doesn’t play and it says: “Your Video Download is only $4.99!”.
Oh no! I think it already expired 😦 I will make it again though so you can see, its soooo worth it lol
You know I just checked it and it still opens for me…I had trouble with it at first but I just had to refresh it a couple of times and then it loads, then click watch video after the Warning message comes up 😉 I hope it works this time, here is the link again—

LOL! That was amazing Maisoun, thank you! 🙂 Can’t say Nando’s not hot.. He’s my favourite non-Real hottie.
Maybe if he yelled at them we would’ve one?
Just saying….
….bit superstitious.
hi Una, fisrt time posting here though i’ve been following your blog for some quite time 🙂
That 1st picture of Benzema was …. (insert nasty sexy words). He’s gorgeous!
I was away and was so dissapointed that I could not watch it, and reading the blog is the first thing I am doing after coming back (even before checking e-mail!). I am now dissapointed but not because I did not see it, but because of the result! I don’t get it!
But I’ll have to trust in TSO and the players, I hope they’ll win next time.
And please, make the “Xabi posing” section obligatory after every game, it is hilarious!
(I am not mentioning that Sergio’s hair or anything else is obligatory to mention already, I think we all know that!)LOL
thanks for a lovely recap!
My Saturday was bad. Liverpool and Real Madrid are slowly killing me!
I was bored too! I mean, the actions were okay, I can see that they are breathing like a team already.. But the finish.. Ahhh poor Gonzalo – what’s happening with him? I don’t understand why so many missed opportunities..
As for “What a lovely ass he has.” god Una, you’re damn right! Thanks for those pics. I disagree with the referee’s decision about that yellow card, but..
Anyway, I still think positive! HALA MADRID!
Well said, Una. The sky and Angel’s eyes were really some of the few things worth commenting on about the game. It was so frustrating to keep thinking “come on, any second now we’re gonna score” all the way through up until the last few seconds of the game. I just wasn’t ready to accept the fact that we left with a single point. What a shame.
It was incredibly worrying when the team doctor was sent off! Imagine what could have happened if we needed him for something serious.
Sergio’s yellow card? What yellow card? Woop. Must’ve erased it from my memory 🙂
I loled when they showed Mou slouched in the chair like that. How ballsy is that guy with the poster? Mou is literally right under his nose!
And last but not least, you know I have to 😉
*siggghhhh*
That butt is just perfectly sculpted! Damn you shorts..always in the way!
“That butt is just perfectly sculpted! Damn you shorts..always in the way!”
–I know right?! I saw that MTV airs ‘Lingerie Football’ which I thought was totally dumb, a bunch of girls running around in their underwear until I thought hmmmm…wouldnt it be nice if they addressed a more deserving audience…US!!! Imagine Los Blancos run around in undies! …well I already imagine it but, I mean they could set up a charity game and everyone wins! I mean we already know Sexio doesnt mind taking his clothes off for a good cause and said he would do it again if needed…well let me tell you its needed! Someone get on this please!!!
What a terrible match…. at least they’ve still only conceded one goal. Now if they can maintain those tactics and while adding some goals…
I’m liking Mourinho more and more. I love what he said about Levante’s players, hahaha. Clever.
Any Sergio moment is good consolation… even if he is getting a yellow card.
Ouch… I just feel bad for them for missing all those chances though…
Anybody else hate it when fans of a team whistle/boo their own players? (I don’t know if the Bernabeu did this game, I didn’t watch it, but I know they do sometimes)
Personally I think fans of a team should always support the team, that’s the point…
It was nice of Levante to recognize the World Cup winners.
Wow, so that’s why the doctor was sent off?
I hope we get ourselves organized in time for Tuesday! We can do this!
I am determined to stay positive.
Love your report! Really nice thank you!
This match was so dull (and frustrating… is it *really* so impossible to score against Levante?!) that by minute 20 I was more interested in my Latin work. (Normally, I operate on the basis of “anything involving Sergio Ramos” > “Latin translation”, but this game… ugh.)
And the team doctor getting sent off… was just a giant WTF moment for me. I didn’t even know that was possible.
¿Hala Madrid? Better luck next time, boys… 😦
Oh man reading this post was so much more interesting than that game. I honestly think we need more female commentators so we all catch the ~really~ important bits as they happen.
10 – “lovely ass he has”…
Gives new meaning to “tighties whities!”…
🙂
