noooooooooo!!!

October 7, 2010

In this morning’s training session, as Madrid took on Castilla in a practice game, Fernando Gago received a hard tackle from Castilla player Daniel Carvajal and left the pitch at the end of the first half.  The club’s medical staff revealed that he has a bruise and possibly sprained the ligaments in his left knee, the same ones that he injured on Aug. 25 against Peñarol and which kept him out for one month.  He’ll be monitored for the next 24 hours to see how his injury evolves.  ¡Qué mala suerte!

The game, by the way, ended 1-1, after two 35-minute halves.  As the first team only had eight players, including two goalkeepers, available, they borrowed some of Castilla’s players.  Both of the goals came off penalties, with the first scored by Esteban Granero after a foul against Pedro León and the other scored by Castilla player Javi Hernández (who happens to be Guti’s cousin!!!) off a foul committed against Álvaro Morata.

If you’re curious, the starting line-ups:

Real Madrid: Dudek, Granero, Pedro León, Mateos, Marcelo, Gago, Albiol, plus Denis, Cristian, Velayos, Merchán

Castilla: Adán, Carvajal, Goni, Nacho, Casado, Mandi, Álex, Juanfran, Juan Carlos, Sarabia, Joselu

Gago!!!! 😮 I really hope it’s not something that’ll keep him out for even longer!

Is the world really ready for an “actual” Guti lookalike? For that reason I’m glad that there are no photos of Cousin Herdandez included..but I’m still curious! *hint hint* 😉
