Peter Lion: there is no problem between Mou and me

October 12, 2010

Pedro León spoke with the press after Madrid’s training session today, and cleared the air.

This is what was said:

– Mourinho is the one in charge.  There’s no problem between us.  The reasons why I wasn’t called up for the last two games was because I didn’t do what he told me to do in the game against Levante, which was unintentional.  That same day he spoke to me and told me the reasons.  What was said will stay between Mourinho and myself.

– I get along well with him.  We have a great relationship.

– I wasn’t hurt when he said I wasn’t Maradona or Zidane.

– I know that the míster has confidence in me and I’m going to continue working to help the team.

– I feel supported by my coach because I’ve never had any problem with him.  It’s like nothing happened.  There were closed training sessions that you all didn’t see in which Mourinho acted normally with me.

– My teammates don’t have to support me because nothing happened.

So there you have it.  It’s for strictly sporting reasons, not personal reasons.  And everything is fine.  Looking forward to seeing Peter Lion play again!

Pedro didn’t have a choice BUT to say that! Sorry I’m not buying it, Jose wanted to make an example of someone and he chose a lesser player on the team to send a message. What else is Pedro going to say but there is no problem? NOBODY and I mean NOBODY wants to go against Jose Morinho! You can tell just by looking at Pedro that he regrets coming to Real and that is sad.

I see no reason why Pedro Leon would lie to the press though, there are ways to skirt a question without saying you have a “great” relationship with someone and you’ve “never had any problem with him”. He really didn’t need to say all that.
So, I’d advise you to careful about the rumors, and don’t take them seriously unless you know they’re true. (I know there were a lot of rumors about Jose Mourinho and Pedro Leon) (sorry if this sounds mean)

I would like to believe his simple commentary on the situ, but it all sounds like sports-speak to me. This is what really happened: He got his butt whooped and learned a hard lesson on the cruelty of the professional game and now we will move on and act like nothing happened, even though we all know it did, and he will use this as a jumping off point in the maturation process. It will make him a better player because maturing makes most people better at whatever they are doing – whether running a store, riding a horse or playing soccer. He’s still a cutie pie…

Yes, you’re right, but Miguel Torres actually did call Pedro León that, so I’ve adopted it!
