in case you missed it – the team edition
In case you missed it – Málaga vs. Real Madrid [2010-10-16].
Two thumbs up for this game, one from Mesut and the other from Pepe! We’re finally starting to play like a team, no?
One. Four goals, four goal celebrations. Which one is your favorite? The two person high-five & hug, the tousling of the hair, the little dance, or the traditional group hug? I’m partial to Marcelo and Cristiano’s little dance.

(Post very image-heavy…)
Two. Whatever Cristiano and Gonzalo were scheming as they came out after the half, it worked, as Madrid scored two more goals in the second half! I love Cristiano’s expressions.

Three. Like Iker said, his left glove is back to having five fingers. Too bad, or this game would have counted as a manita if it had been based on Iker’s four-fingered glove.

Four. Expressions of frustration.

Related to that, the annoyed looks thrown at the ref upon receiving a yellow card. Álvaro gets bonus points for the little head shake of disgust and disbelief.

Five. I love this picture because Marcelo looks like he’s on vacation here (he might even be whistling) in contrast to the intense looks worn by Iker and Pipita.

Six. The Spanish newspapers keep insisting that Peter Lion’s “sanction” is over. I wish they would stop with that, because I really don’t believe there ever was a sanction, and because I choose to believe what the player said the other day, that there aren’t any problems between him and Mou, something he echoed after the game: “I’ve been okay this entire time, since I knew that the coach was counting on me… my relationship with him is very good.”
Seven. Moments like these remind me why I love these boys so much.

Eight. The only good thing about anyone getting injured on the field is when players lift up shirts/shorts to check the damage.
Nine. As I’ve said many times before, my favorite moments don’t usually occur during the game. Here, as Madrid waited to come out onto the field after the descanso, is Iker being all “captainy” and Pepe playing with Iker’s ears. He doesn’t do it as well as Higuaín though. I wonder what Ángel dropped? And Xabi looks like a watch guard.

Ten. Nice words all around!
Mou said after the game that Cristiano Ronaldo’s “astral chart has changed,” since Cris has now scored six in four games, including his two with Portugal. His two tonight pushed him into first place on the pichichi list (however, the previous leader, Nilmar, has not yet played this weekend, since Villarreal’s game won’t take place until Monday).
Cris said after the game that “Özil played very well and he’s gaining confidence with each game. We’ve very happy with him, Khedira, Pedro León, all the new signings.”
Eleven. This is why Xabi is the captain on the field. He separated Pepe when it appeared that a fight was about to start…

… and when he got hit by the ball, he watched and waited until it was out of play before collapsing onto the field. Even his little expressions are cute.

The Xabi Alonso pose section.™ Looks like Xabi’s got some new poses! He also wanted the photographers to know where he was.
Twelve. Everyone and their mother warmed up, but in the end, it was only Pedro León, Canales and Benzema that got into the game. It was great seeing Raúl Albiol back in uniform though. Esteban Granero and Antonio Adán were the descartados for the game; this was the first time that that happened for El Pirata.

Speaking of the bench, the players on it celebrated Pablo Hernández’s goal against Barcelona, though not too exuberantly, while the starting line-up was in the locker room waiting to come out to warm up. I love them all.
Thirteen. Some examples of brilliant journalism:
El Mundo talked about Canales’ hair in their summary of the game: “Canales, returning after the problem with his ankle, showed off a brand new hairstyle, perhaps the only thing out of place in a very positive night for Madrid.”
And according to El País, German philosopher Richard David Precht had described Mesut Özil in this way in the Süddeutsche Zeitung: “he has the face of a turtle. I see his face and it brings to mind those turtles that we find illustrated in children’s books. But what’s clear is that Özil will end up being an idol to kids.”

His stomach is still looking a bit like a turtle shell as well.
Fourteen. Pepe got into a little scuffle right after the first half with Málaga forward Albert Luque, who had been on the bench. They had been jawing at each other, and as the teams walked off the field, Luque ran towards Pepe and grabbed his ears. The other players separated them. After the game, Luque said, “Pepe told us to look at the scoreboard and I didn’t like his lack of respect towards us. We talked in the tunnel, cleared things up and I’d give each of us a yellow card… He’s a great central defender. But to wear that shirt [of Real Madrid] you have to be a gentleman and in this I have some doubts” – ouch!

Fifteen. The Mou section. The exact right number of sticks of gum? Check. No expression change when the goal was scored? Check. Notebook? Check. Sticking used gum under the chair? Check. Fun expressions caught on camera? Check. All in all, a good night for TSO.

In response to all the news this past week about how Mou and Málaga coach Jesualdo Ferreira didn’t get along, don’t respect each other, blah blah blah, the two were seen talking in the tunnel and shared a hug after the game. So there.
Sixteen. Looking ahead to this week, there’s a training session today at 11h, which will be closed to the press. There also will not be a post-training press conference. On Tuesday, Madrid hosts Milan and that idiot Robinho in their third champions league game. It’ll be a good one at the Bernabéu!

Pepe was playing with Iker’s ear, lol, maybe that was his demonstration of the scuffle with Albert Luque…?
thanks for these posts, very fun to read!
Any news about Sergio Ramos’ injury?? Available for the CL on tuesday night?
from what I heard hes back in training and is expected to play tomorrow. Last test will be in training this afternoon.
Woohoo! Thank God for that! I sure can’t let this premature Pipita crush develop any further! What makes matters worse is that there’s a guy in one of my classes who looks SO much like Higuain, so I’m in desperate need of as much footage of Sergio as possible!
Marcelo and Cris’s little dance definitely wins as best goal celebration. I love that Özil is even joining in – team unity FTW!
Poor Xabi just seems to get abused every time he steps on the pitch! Kicks to the chest, balls to the balls… he can’t get through a match without adding to his collection of bruises!
Also how brilliant is it that Mou sticks his gum underneath the seat? Way to ruin any illusion of classiness – I bet Xabi Alonso disposes of his chewing gum properly!
Thanks again for your roundup, it almost makes up for not being able to watch the matches myself!
I hope there isn’t a colony of “special” dried gum under Mou’s chair.. I feel sorry for who has to scoop up the fresh load after every match.
Boo to Precht! Mesut doesn’t look like a turtle! I think he’s adorable. He was on fire yesterday. I just love watching him play.
tsk tsk iker, what a dirty mouth
what did he say??
i have a feeling I didn’t get it because of my crappy spanish…I always miss out on the fun stuff, it’s so not fair 😦 maybe we need to teach Iker some english swear words so that he can vent his anger in a language we understand 😛
Argh I am so pissed off at Canales’ hair! Honestly go back to the old kid scruffy dog hairstyle.
The game was awesome. I am so happy the team is finally gelling together. And the team just looked so happy (including Cris!) Ozil is also starting to become one of my favourite players!
I felt bad for Ozil when Cris and Marcelo were dancing. He looked like he wanted to join in but it was so awkward :p
I love Mou’s last expression. Too funny xD
I agree, I’m starting to really like Ozil as well. His progress is very enjoyable to watch!
I laugh at your point 5 lol lol so nice review!!!! Why dont AS put this on their website????? I wonder!!
Can Xabi be any more adorable?
Haha Iker looks as hed be counting his boys like a teacher his class on a trip. 😀
I think Pepe wanted to tell him how Albert Luque pulled his ear.
I loved the dance, still the big hug between Pipita & Cris is my fav.
Love how nice Cris & Pipita are with each other. Thats not just show like last season. Seems they have finally drawn a line under any animosity if there was any.
And it works out on the field. 2 assists by Cris on Pipita yesterday! I love the guys combining.
wow i freaken love this blog 🙂 mucho love to you una!!!
Real Madrid games every weekend makes for a good weekend, but when Real Madrid plays like they did yesterday…makes for an even better weekend! 😀
I LOVED the little dance Cristiano and Marcelo did lol that was my fave of the goal celebrations and I knew there would be a gif of it in this post 😉 seeing it once during the game just wasnt enough!
And I think Mou better be careful with all the gum he chews, he looks like he was choking in that last gif…I hope someone on the bench knows CPR
Now I didnt miss the match, but what I did miss was Sergio 😦 hope he’s better and playing on Tuesday!
Aww, you missed Sergio too? Well here you go:

😀
oh well..um….helloooooooo there! I feel like I should send some flowers or something to the person who posted that!!!
Finally, thank you I was so waiting for this and you did not disappoint.:)
When I think that my love for Cristiano and the team cannot get any bigger a game like this comes along. They were almost perfect(they let a goal in). The celebrations, I love them all but “disco boy & Marcelo” takes first prize.
Oh forgot to add Sergio Canales,… please step away from the hair gel.
I love the little dance… it looks like the one that Marcelo and Sergio were doing in the Deportivo match. Must be a thing they all like.
I feel like after the Deportivo match, I was just waiting for the next match to see if they could duplicate their performance. It appears that won’t be a problem! 🙂 I can’t wait for Tuesday. I really hope Sergio’s able to play at least part.
What a great post hahahaha 🙂 why do you call robinho an idiot?
For the way he behaved towards Madrid.
Oh ok hahaha ya he has got worse
Lol yeah, I noticed that in a couple of earlier posts too! I guess he doesn’t get the “unamadridista seal of approval” 😉
what are descartados?
The ones who were ruled out for the game due to the coach’s decision, in this case, right before the game.
Definitely the hair tousling – for a couple of reasons. 1) I love how Cris is doing it all big brother-like; and 2) I am super jealous of Cris getting to ruffle Mesut’s hair, because *I’ve* wanted to do that very thing all summer long!
Great win – the only thing missing was Ramos [although it seems he was there in spirit with Mesut and Pepe sporting the thumbs up]. I was partial to the Cris/Mesut hair tousling myself – it was like watching a dad with his son. Really don’t get the turtle face comment about Ozil??
Oh well – bring on Milan!
I was hoping Ozil would join in Marcelo and Cristiano’s little dance. Lol. Now that would be epic.
Great review of the game! Mesut was awesome. Did anyone find out what the Cristiano celebration was all about a few weeks back? When he did that cat claws scratching?! I didn’t like this weeks celebration with the dance, it could’ve been better.
Mou and his chewed gum under the seats is hilarious.
Oh and I really hope the Bernabeu gives it to Robinho…that prick.
When Kaka was actually playing (boo at the injury) last season, he did the monster/claw thing with CR. Since CR did it towards the injured section, it was probably directed towards him.
Really? Thanks for pointing that out! 😀
And we thought it was some lovely fatherly gesture towards baby Cris. Silly us, bromances always come first!
1) OZIL HAIR RUFFLE!! Aah, I just can’t get over that!! I was cooing at my screen when it happened, it was just so cute!
2) I caught that Iker, the puta madre? Smooth, haha
3) I’m wondering about Mou’s intense march toward Peter Lion on the bench though… whatever he said, it sent him scurrying off 😀
You should have a section for CR tantrums. I actually LOL whenever I see him acting like a toddler not getting a cookie and a hug.
Been waiting for this since yesterday. Thanks una! 😀
Best celebration for me was the dance as well.
Cristiano has changed from the long sleeved shirt to the short sleeved one at halftime.
Oh I didn’t notice that! He seems more like a long-sleeves kinda guy, well I dunno :p
wow!!
I really loved both the dance celebration and cris messing with ozil’s hair. and although mou is distusting when he sticks his gum under the chair I love his expresions.
It’s a pitty i can’t watch most of the matches but thanks to you I can watch the good stuff!
keep up good work!! gracias!
Once again good review.I love Cristiano and Marcelo disco dance maybe next time Ozil will be able to dance like them:).I love all the bromances on this team you can really tell that they all get along.Bring on tuesday:)
Aww who am I kidding? I loved all four goal celebrations! 😀 Something tells me Pipa and Cris were talking about anything but football when they came out onto the pitch. Something mischievous perhaps?
This might be a horrible thing to say, but even though any goal conceded by Iker is automatically a tragedy, I still can’t help but wait for him to make cute frustrated faces when someone scores against him. That and the swearing of course.
“Marcelo looks like he’s on vacation here” lol! The joys of having Marcelo on the pitch haha, I love this guy! But he has been playing with his hair quite a lot, no? I noticed he did that a couple of moments before the second half. Is he trying to make up for the fact that there was no Sexio? Aww thanks for trying to make us feel better! Even Ozil was wearing a headband (maybe in commemoration of El Ramos’ absence?)
Lol at El Mundo! Give baby Canales a break, it’s only his first fashion-related mishap. Maybe guys named “Sergio” just have bad luck with haircuts..
I’m shocked about the load of negative comments thrown around everywhere about Canales’ new hairdo! When he stepped onto the pitch I gasped out of delight – now we can actually see his pretty face 😀
I just found your blog and i have to say i am absolutly loving it. have to make my way through all your post anytime soon for sure.
The Pedro Gif is priceless 🙂
