following Real Madrid…

pre-battle notes

Tonight is the battle between Real Madrid and AC Milan, who hold 16 Champions League trophies between them!

One. I am really liking all of the Champions League-wear this year!  I love the clean and simple lines of the shirts/sweatshirts the players wore yesterday, and also the leisurewear!

Now, if only shoes were included… because that would mean that we wouldn’t be forced to see the monstrosities from the closet of Iker Casillas.  If only he had a girlfriend with good taste in shoes who could help him out…

Two. The Madrid-Milan match-up means the return to the Bernabéu of several former Madrid players, including The Idiot Robinho, and another player that I like much, much better (and have fond memories of), Clarence Seedorf!  He was tasked with speaking to the press yesterday, and of his spell with Madrid (three years, 1996-99, if you’re a new Madrid fan), he said, “I’ve had great moments here as a player and I still have a lot of affection for the club… I hope this will not be the last time I play here.  I’m going to enjoy it.”

And Clarence still speaks great Spanish, have a listen here!

Three. Neither Sergio Ramos nor Sergio Canales will be playing tonight, the former as a precautionary measure, and the latter due to Mou’s decision.  Boo.

Four. In twitter news, Álvaro Arbeloa became the mayor of the Mirasierra Suites with five check-ins in the last 60 days (see, I’m a psychic).  If you go to his foursquare page, you’ll also find that he’s mayor of three other places (the BA Lounge in Glasgow, the Helmántico stadium in Salamanca and restaurant El Paraguas in Madrid).  He’s earned seven badges, and recommends El Paraguas and Hotel Monte Igueldo in Donosti because “the view is impressive.”

Meanwhile, Cris is taking suggestions for his new boots.  May I suggest Kaká’s face, a little picture of a tube of hair gel or the letters CRJ for his son (in that order)?  How about you?

Five. A Mouism from his press conference on Monday:

– if we win, the next day will be Wednesday.  If we lose, the next day will be Wednesday.

Six. Iker was the Madrid player chosen to speak to the press yesterday, and he looked incredibly handsome while he doing so.  Sí or sí?
