Xabi for Gillette – the ad

Remember this?  Well here’s Xabi’s ad for Gillette’s moisturizing aftershave.

So, Gillette could have done anything with Xabi Alonso, and this is all they could come up with???  I can think of a dozen better scenarios off the top of my head!  (In fairness to Gillette though, this product is not aimed at women).

Anyway, the ad is all about “debunking myths,” such as the one about how “Spain never makes it past the quarterfinals” and that Gillette is “only about shaving.”

Confession time: how many of you would buy this product just to get the box with Xabi’s smooth face on it?

I could easily see how Xabi fans everywhere could turn this into a collectible item! ;D ….I’ll take 10…

Himmm… I don’t even like the pict that they have of Xabi in the ad. My take – the ad agency should be given notice, the copywriter should be fired and they should hire a new photographer while they are at it. all in all – a BIG thumbs down.

Really? That’s what they chose to run with?? Not only is this pic just so-so, he looks like he’s still in Liverpool kit! This is an ad that’s meant to run in Spain?! BAD JOB, copywriters. Veinte latigazos con un fideo mojo, por favor.

I would buy it with no hesitation. If only they sell it here in my country *sigh*

Hell yeah! I’d buy a dozen for my brother and dad – and keep the boxes.
Will there be a TV commercial? I do hope so …

I am sure it must have been an all-male team who came up with this ad, and what is more – a team who must have been hidden somewhere past years and did not follow the Classiness – that is the only one explanation of why they did not explore the whole potential that one has when you have Xabi Alonso For God’s Sake advertising your product!!!

Come on, they really could have taken his photos in a suit or somethin! Not that he does not look good here, but come on, come on, it’s Xabi Alonso, the King of Class and the Major of the I Look Perfect in A Suit (and not only) City!!!

PS the good news is, I hear, is that Sergio will talk to the press with TSO before Milan game. Oh, I cannot wait! Such a small thing and so much joy it brings! ;-)))

What a let down. For this super boring ad he has to shave for every game? why??!! 😦 I think there would have been much more potential even if it’s mainly aimed at men (and the women who talk their men into buying skin care products…). The photo is awful and doesn’t even look like him. what were they thinking?

    … this is really bad.

No, seriously, did they have little Jon take this picture? It could only be worse with a thumbs-up sign.

I don’t care how smooth your face is, Xabi, I demand a do-over!

(That said, I’d still buy it. And I’m so buying like 20 of those razors Iker’s shilling. Hope the men in my life like shaving!)
