Xabi Alonso is one of the famous people to support Médicos Sin Fronteras (Doctors Without Borders)’s new campaign, “pastillas contra el dolor ajeno” (pills for someone else’s pain).

The concept is simple: a symbolic act.  For €1, you can go to a pharmacy and buy a special pack of six mints.  The proceeds will go to help those forgotten people who are in pain.

Other famous Spanish personalities who have participated in the campaign include Alejandro Sanz, Andrés Iniesta, Ferran Adrià, Estopa…

Translation of what Xabi says and ways you can help…

Xabi is helping to alleviate the pain of Sam, a kid with AIDS, and all the others like him who lack the money and the access to antiviral drugs and tests.  He says, “Sam is 10 years old and has AIDS.  Today, children with AIDS can be treated, but they need more medication and diagnostic tests, because the majority are only for adults.  Without treatment, half of the children born with HIV will die before they turn two years old.  The problem is simple: without access to treatment, there’s no cure.  For your health, Sam.”

Muy bien Xabi, muy bien.

If you live in Spain, you can help out by purchasing the “pills” at a pharmacy.  Or, you can make a donation here (web site is in Spanish).

Oh, Xabi, whatever you say, I believe and follow!

PS I just saw the pictures from Sergio’s new photoshoot. I am still processing them, to the extent that I just don;t know what to even write. I am sure, Una, you will share your thoughts about that topic with us 😉
anyway, Sexio in English-school-boy-with-good-grades-style is something I was not ready for and now I am speechless. LOL

It’s wonderful that Xabi Alonso is giving support and publicity to Doctors Without Borders. Very admirable. I love this organization and feel like not enough people know about them and not enough people know about the horrible damage HIV/AIDS is causing in African and worldwide. Xabi manages to do the right thing once again.

This is random, but out of curiosity why is Marcelo the fourth captain over Pipita?

    • November 13, 2010 09:51

Because Marcelo’s been here longer than Pipita (it’s a matter of days, but it counts).

(Sorry to be off topic!) I knew that the club awards captaincy based on seniority, but didn’t realize that they followed the rule so strictly. Wow. So technically Cris will be captain one day. Can’t wait for that because I do believe that he really deserves it for his hard work and form. I couldn’t care less about what he does in his private life as long as he continues to rock as a footballer. Who knows, perhaps Irina is good for him because ever since he’s been dating her, he has been on fire professionally.

        …but white pants cris? seriously?!!
