bits & pieces, odds & ends
It’s an international week, which means that there are only bits and pieces of Real Madrid news floating around. Here’s the most interesting ones, in my opinion.
One. Here’s Iker’s ad for the Philips SensoTouch 3D wet/dry electrical razor. We’ve seen the images before (here, here and here) but the overall aesthetic look of the ad is quite nice, especially compared to this one. In any case, whatever he’s selling, I’m buying.
Two. Apparently the trend now is to go back to your home country to recover from injuries, since AS reports today that Fernando Gago is in Buenos Aires working with kinesiologists from his ex-club Boca Juniors and the Albicelestes to recover from the injury to his left knee. This came right after news that Kaká was given permission to return to Sao Paulo to work with doctors there for his knee problems.
Three. Cristiano Ronaldo showed off a new hairstyle while on duty with the Portuguese national team yesterday. I don’t like it. It looks like Cris has a stegosaurus lying on his head. See a gallery of Cristiano’s hairstyles (mostly all original) here. Bonus Cris here.
Four. Real Madrid’s La Roja players got a special visitor in the form of Pepe during their training session yesterday in the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon. How cute that he went to go see them! They look happy to see him too, and Sergio even jumped on Pepe.
This Spain-Portugal friendly is a bit like a preview of the upcoming Barcelona-Madrid game, because we’ll get to see how the central defenders do against the star forward. In other words, Pepe and Carvalho will take on Villa, while the partnership of Piqué and Puyol will try to stop Cristiano. The symmetry between Spain-Portugal and Madrid-Barcelona is interesting, no?
Five. This week’s Crackòvia. I’m not going to translate these, but I think you can the gist just from watching, even if you don’t speak Spanish.
Six. The full video from the chat Iker and Cristiano had with TVE can be seen here. I don’t think I’ll get around to translating it, unless many people request it.

Okay, I’m going to take my chances and say that I really like Cris’ new hair! Despite the fact that the second shot makes his head look like *something* that needs a Brazilian wax, he doesn’t look like a pretty boy anymore!

Even though the match is annoyingly late for me over here, I’m gonna stay up to watch it for sure! I can’t wait!

Ok, now that I’ve got that part out of the way, I have to ask – Cris, wtf were you thinking of?!! Your hair is a disaster. It looks terrible… like something left behind from the 80’s. *shrugs* That being said, as long as his football is still amazing, I really don’t care what he does in his personal life.
I love our team. Pepe visiting the others just reinforces that fact.

I loved that video of the Sporting game. Especially the moments when Cristiano was conducting the crowd, when Pepe showed the RM crest to the fans after Gonzalo’s goal and how Mesut was also shaking his fist at them lol, and Gonzalo’s 401 salute at the beginning! But what was Pepe shown at the end of the video by that man? I didn’t get that.
I want Cris to grow his hair long and he seems to be moving in the opposite direction. >.> The 2006 hair was good on him.

But on a serious note…and that Sporting game video isn’t the only thing I’m basing my following opinion on…Spanish fans are pretty hostile..they’re either tied or a close second to the Italians.
Spanish fans are nowhere *near* as bad as the English… they invented “hooligans”, you know!

Love that Pepe went to see his Real Madrid teammates. Ugh Cris just better grow out that hideous haircut real soon. Last but not least…Sergio love him.

Nice ad with Iker – no doubt there will be a huge spike in the number of women buying the Sensotouch 3d (who names these things??) for their men. Speaking of spikes – words fail me on the new ‘do from Cris – thankfully we have Una to come to the rescue, as the stegosauraus comparison is spot on. It should cut down on the need for all that gel at least. And every one of your posts should end with that 8th point!. Thanks again Una

That is very interesting about the defender/forward dynamic for this match compared to El Clásico. I will be paying attention to that. So in a way, though Spain is my favorite, I hope Pepe and Carvalho can stop Spain’s attack…
that was an intense game, people judge Cristiano so much that they can get the worst of him w/out knowing the rest of him. But people that yell out stuff to him should know that their insults wont stop him.
I agree. Boy those fans were brutal, weren’t they? Seemed like the fans spent more time yelling at Madrid than watching the game.

It looked good and sometimes a bit fierce during the fight against Spain.
Like the commentator of EUROSPORT TV Germany said: “Cristiano is as sharp as a razor blade”.

I don’t like his hair so much. I sort of hope it grows back before the big match. Now, when everybody is taking him seriously… he does his hair like a 16 year old.
