I think you, my dear, are quite wrong. Puyi already said there were no hard feelings and he understood why Sergio acted as he did, and I’m sure Sergio has already perfusely apologized for his outburst to him, Xavi, and probably Messi as well. Under the circumstances, even though his actions were not okay in the slightest, they are some what justifiable due to frustration, emotions, stress, disappointment, etc. Regarding the match though I am quite dissapointed. I saw no indication that Real Madrid even showed up on the pitch today 😦 At least it’s just one game, and there are 25 more to be played.
Oh, did he really? Ah, that’s bad! But I guess he just got way too upset and frustrated but I’m pretty sure they’re gonna hug it out afterward.
This was the worst game for Madrid in a long time. It was worse than the 6-2 trashing. We were simply outplayed. Heck we didn’t even create a single good chance. I’m very upset right now.
Extremely bummed right now….but thinking of Barca at the Bernabeu, where they WONT be smiling, makes me feel a little bit better!
What color will Iker wear now?Maybe red to match his face…

Hi Una – I’ve been following your blog for a while – and I really enjoy your articles! Tonight has been a strange night. I think I was numb beyond imagination after we went down 3-0. But by the end I actually felt alright…as though tomorrow we’ll be fine again. I’m very sure we can pick ourselves up! So Hala Madrid! =)
Poor show. What was Ramos doing at the end? I though these were his friends!! Was disappointed with everyone tonight … I’m not gonna lie.
Honestly, Barca played amazingly. They totally reminded me of the Spanish NT at its best matches.
Real has to cope with this as fast as they can – it’s normal – the first loss had to come one day.
But, please, Cris and Sergio (!!!), do not act like this anymore! I’m even afraid Sergio’s actions against Puyol, Pique and Xavi will influence the atmosphere in the NT! It’s not worth destroying everything they already reached! 😦

I couldn’t even watch after the first goal by Barca. I had a bad feeling all week about this game. My favorite uncle died today as well, Just a big bunch of negative energy.
I see Sergio had a bad ending to the game. Just from the few minutes that I watched, you could feel how nervous and tense they all were.

I can’t believe it. It wasn’t RM playing out there. But Sergio saved my heart from complete destruction. I just need CR to go beat the hell out of Valdes now too. Sore loser I know but everyone is making fun of RM. I can’t take it.
I thought i was the only one who actually calmed down after what Sergio did. He will be punished for what he did, but at least we have one player who has the back bone in his body.

that was quite a distasteful act by ramos. he really shouldnt vent his frustrations on puyol and xavi like this. i just hope this wouldn’t cause a rift in the NT. 😦
He was frustrated. I think that Puyi & Xavi know Ramos well enough to realize that it was just his frustration. It’s Sergio’s passion that makes him such a good player, hence the arm waving, etc. Unfortunately, this passion feeds on a lot of emotion which can sometimes cause him to do rash things. Cris is the same way. Xabi didn’t back down from his Spain teammates either. Today they were Madridistas and Blaugranas first and foremost. When they are with Spain, they will be Spainiards first and foremost. These guys understand that.
The funny thing about guys is that they can be enemies on the pitch and go straight back to being friends off the pitch. They get pissed and then get over it.

I think people are blindly blaming Sergio because he was the one who got physical, but we’re not on the pitch and dont get the whole story, we dont get to hear the comments made (just like with Zizou’s headbutt)…yes his reaction was unfortunate (maybe :P) but he’s not the only one who’s guilty. Its common knowledge that you dont approach/get in someone’s face when they’re that heated, they’ll get exactly what they’re asking for…and I dislike all the talk of this incident creating a rift btwn the Spain NT players, its just creating more unnecessary drama…
Lastly, this is just a reminder that these guys are HUMAN, not saints, with the exception of Iker 😉
I believe Xavi, Puyol and other Spanish national teammates understand why Ramos had acted that way. I believe if the Barcelona were the one losing 0-5 Puyol or Pique might have done the same to Ronaldo too! Sergio Busquest and David Villa received no mercy from Alonso and Ramos as well but there was no rift between them at that time because they know what they were doing. When Ramos pushed Puyol and Xavi emotion had taken over him, it’s just part of football really.

I was sorry to see Real Madrid get thrashed like that. I was sad to see the ugliness in the end when Sergio Ramos hit two of his La Roja teammates, Xavi and Puyol. I understand he was frustrated, but I hope that they make up before the next time they get together!Or the other times when La Roja teammates took it out on each other (I believe Xabi challenged Busquets?, as well as Arbeloa). I hope they all can forgive and forget! It is one game. Also to see Iker scored upon by his La Roja teammates was sad, Xavi, Pedro, and Villa. I know it’s life in La Liga! Ok, I’ll stop with La Roja talk on this post.
Oh.MY.God. When I said I was sure that this game will bring legendary gifs I was not careful for what I was asking for! Also when I said after the first half that there would be fight in the end, I obviously did not mean THAT.

First of all: Ouch.
Numero 2: Ouch. Ouch. I cannot say anything about the result. All in all, it was only one match, so I think the team is safe points-wise. I have no idea what Mou will tell, but I got the feeling that he will behave like a father who lets the kids think about it and lets them come up with what they did wrong by themselfes. And there will be some preaching later. But I think they will bounce back and will be fine.
Numero 3: Sergio Ramos Garcia, I love you boy, but what exactly were you thinking? You cannot control your temper, can you? Bad, bad Sergio, I am not even able to joke about how I would slap him now on his sexy touchy! No matter of whether the situation was provoked or not! I feel for him, he must feel awful afterwards, but it was nasty, not a captainy behaviour! It was absolutely the worst part of the match, my comm even wondered what would be the consequences for the NT team after scenes like that (on both sides) but I hope they will (all) behave like man, say they’re sorry and forget about stuff.
Numero 4: I only have a reflection of how the rivarly so intense fucks up the minds of everyone, including the players (sometimes). The whole atmosphere around it provokes the intesity on the pitch (I did not like any of the fouls, on both sides!), what gives another reasons of hatred among the fans, the TV stimulates it also and we have a never ending vicious circle! I am not even sure I will totally blame the players for not being immune to provocation, I cannot even totally judge them as I never experienced 80000 hating me for doing my job. It’s just my observation about the downsides of things.
Numero 5: I know this is Real Madrid blog and I wanted Real to win, but what I liked the most in the whole match was Gerard Pique. In every aspect of him on the pitch.absolutely.
Also, sorry for a long post, I couldn’t help and even sexy gifs from previous games were not helping me!;-) I had to get it out of my system so I will not organise an emergency intervention for Sergio concerning his lack of temper’s control!
Yeah.. as much as it hurts, congratulations. I don’t like what mi Sergito did, but I totally understand him. It hurts so much.. I can’t stand it! Poor Casillas. I’d like to hug him and never let him go! 😦 *broken* And yet, they may won this battle, but the war is still on!

no offense because i know this is a madrid blog but i was extremely put off by Ramos’ atrocious behaviour towards his fellow la roja teammates (of course, in el clasico, everyone is either barca or madrid but still..). i can’t believe he fouled messi and still had the audacity to hit/slap xavi and puyol in the face. my respect for him has gone down the drain. he totally deserved that red card. and what’s with all the yellow cards by the madrid players?
i’m glad that the other madrid la roja players i like (i.e. casillas and alonso) still maintain some semblance of class and discipline.

I’m not defending Ramos’ actions, but let’s break this down. Your comment there seems to suggest fouling Messi is ‘the’ crime, when in actual fact that foul was silly, late and would have drawn a card against any player. So this ‘I can’t believe he fouled Messi and still had the audacity to hit/slap xavi and puyol’? Audacity had nothing to do with it. He was vexed, didn’t handle the frustration and POP, did what he did. Messi is a maestro and great to watch, but the kid aint made of fine cut crystals. Last I read, there’s no rule in the league specifically ruling out fouls on any player- so a little less of the ‘poor lil Messi’, pls.
I know fans are disappointed, but let it be for the way Madrid played and the end result. That reality fell so far from our expectations. Then move on. Annihilating Sergio is a joke. Mistake is a mistake is a mistake. How many times can it be said? He’ll receive his punishment and express regret for his actions.
But right now, all this over exaggerated disappointment like he broke the guys leg is too much.
Wasn’t implying anything by the ‘foul on messi’, by stating his name I was not in any way implying that “wow messi is some godlike creature and how dare he do that to messi?!”. Not at all. Maybe you get this impression by many people revering messi but I did not mean anything like that in my comment. Ramos could’ve fouled any player.
What I meant what he fouled a rival player (to erase your confusion I shall leave out the name of the player) and still had the audacity to hit his rival players’ faces as if his foul was justified. Your opinions are therefore not a relevant counter to my comments. Sure Ramos MIGHT ‘receive his punishment and express regret for his actions’, but I don’t think that means people aren’t allowed to express how off-putting Ramos’ actions were.
Ramos does not need to break a guy’s leg for people to be disappointed in his actions. The reason why I am disgusted and disappointed is because I thought a lot better of him. Not anymore.

Sorry, but seeing Sergio was wrong, but what’s more wrong is that it turned me on. I’d lay dollars to donuts that Puyol and Xavi were instigating and shti talking. Puyol got up in Sergi’s face first, and it was lights out after that. I’m sure the SNT is fine. They know how this shit works better than all of us. I liked the way Iker stepped in frot of Valdes to handle PK, and he calmed his little ass down right afterward.
Barca outplayed them on every level, and I’m glad I was not in a public venue watching that horseshit of a performance that RM displayed. IMO RM boys have a mental block when it comes to playing Barca in the El Classico, which translate totheir on the field shitty performance.

Concerning “the Ramos incident”, I can fully understand his rage and I’m also sure that it wasn’t so necessary for Puyi to go and reproach sergio for his foul. As if he doesn’t know how quick-tempered the guy is! I personally wouldn’t risk coming up to Ramos with my reprimands seeing how furious he already was. I bet Puyi wasn’t really surprised at the reaction. And Xavi is soooo really naive if he honestly thought that he was able to calm Sergio down. The best thing for all of them was to leave the guy alone and let him let his steam off against a locker in the dressing room! but no. they preferred to provoke him. I never justify violence. But I also don’t justify those who provoke it.
All in all, I AM ABSOLUTELY SURE they will remain good friends after all. And I’m sure Sergio has already apologised a thousand times to the both of them.

Very disappointing end to the match, but I think in the end, everyone knows that there was no harm intended and the NT players will all be on good terms again soon. And as much as I love Cris, he should have more respect for Pep and any other coach.
I think Mou is probably not thrilled with the sportsmanship and level of skill displayed tonight by his team; but, better to lose your first game to the best team in the league, no?
RM will recover and become stronger because of this.

I kind of am okay with it too. I mean, objectively I agree that it’s not cool, it’d be better to see good sportsmanship etc. But honestly, with all the anger and frustration of that game, it felt good to see someone take a little revenge. I’m sorry that that isn’t the mature thing to feel or say, but that’s life. And of course if it was the other way around and someone had shoved the RM boys like that, I’d be out for blood. But, you know, sports fan is biased towards her own team – sky is blue, water is wet.
All i can say is that Sergio had the balls to do it and i applaud that. I am so relieved it was him and not one of the foreigners, especially the portuguese’s because then everybody would’ve flipped with so much tension going on in the field. Once again, Sergio is a really Madridista and he literally fights until the end. I LOVE HIM!

I calmed down a bit, but I kinda wish I did not see the game. I hope something good will come out of this loss anyway. everyone needs a cold shower sometimes, so maybe they will learn from their mistakes.
I will not post about it anymore, too hard, just want to say that Barca played great (brilliant even, the possession of the ball!), RM played really badly. I saw no angels on the pitch today, however. I think it was only Iker, a saint after all, who did not harm anyone physically (but he lost his nerves too, in the end although he did not punch anyone I believe)
I am afraid, that the press will live this match for weeks now and I cannot imagine what would be made out of certain situations, more or less fairly. I cannot even imagine how would be Sergio treated – I am not justifying what he did (I am so mad at him that I will not call him Sexio for at least two weeks), it was nasty, no matter what were the reasons, and he definitely needs to be punished. Media are just so powerful and it is so easy for them to make someone;s life a hell to the crazy sizes and everyone loses common sense and forgets that there are bigger problems in the world. They should also make him go on TV and say to the kids that it’s not a way to do things, or something like that, since the kids watching football are mostly affected by such things.

I knew that I was going to feel bad for either RM or Barca because I like players on both teams. In the end I feel let down because of the poor sportmanship – hope that Sergio learns better anger management skills! David Villa got sent off for slapping a player some weeks ago, so I suppose it can happen to the best of them when emotions are running high.
Just wish that players and fans and the press would get a grip – even for emotionally charged games like this. However tantalizing, exciting and wonderful the game of football is – and the players- it is just a game! (I have to remind myself of this sometimes.)
Feel miserable for Iker – he must have one major heartache at the moment! Silver lining – it’s only one game and I’m sure that RM can go on to great things again.

Hey guys…Barca fan here. I love so many RM players individually that I do feel bad that RM lost the way they did. Barca played brilliantly. The funny thing is, they hadn’t played this well all season and RM has been doing so well that I was worried Barca might not have a chance. Anyway, concerning the fights. I thought Ronaldo was out of line with Pep (although I don’t know why Pep didn’t just hand the ball to him…). You just don’t shove a coach. Its normal etiquette to your elders/superiors. Good to know that there are still “true” Barca fans that don’t think they have to laugh at Madridistas after such a match.
I’m the lone Madridista in a pub full of Barca fans. I had promised to go ’round after work for a pint win, lose or draw last night. As you can imagine, I was dreading it after that thrashing. But I held my head high and went. When I walked in the door, I was greeted with big hugs, someone put a drink in my hand and another bought me dinner. They knew I was gutted. All the genial trash talking pre-El Clasico went out the window and we just talked about the game in detail. I think that the key is that I was able to admit where we fell short and give credit where credit was due for their side. They were similarly respectful to us. They’ve watched the games this season with me – they know how good we are. They also love many of our players (esp. San Iker) as they are La Roja fans. Granted, maybe some of the more rabid cules who weren’t there might not have been as gracious, but the Barca fans I knew and talked with last night were wonderful and didn’t rub it in my face. We all care about our teams and we’ve all had our ass handed to us at one time or another. I appreciated the respect and support in my time of sorrow. So yes, there are many great Barca fans out there who just love the game full stop and don’t feel the need to tear down Madridistas. I salute them. And as I said to them last night “Hey, see you in April!” 🙂 It’s Tuesday. New day. Onward to the next match. We’ll learn, we’ll grow and we’ll be stronger. HALA MADRID!

My heart pretty much broke in two during that match…..so painful. I agree with all of you who have said that the media has gotten way out of hand when it comes to el gran Clasico. One would think it was the ONLY football match played in the world the way it is made out to be. I am going to be a good Madridista & keep the faith. Like the players & Jose always say: they are still a work in progress & they are also very young for the most part. The core of Barcelona have been together for an eternity! I woke up when the match had already finished so I checked on Twitter to see the score and boy, I was instantly awake! 5-0! I couldn’t believe what I saw. I went on Tumblr for few minutes and most ppl said that Real Madrid was not good at all! I wonder what happened! Was it really that bad that our boys couldn’t even score one goal? UGHHHHH! I really hope they win the next game against Barca at Bernabeu.

When it comes to Cris Pep totally deserved it,he was so disrespectful and then acted out like he was the victim. I was so angry when I got to know that internet connection is down yesterday (of all day) in my whole town and I can’t get tv cable subscribed in time (just moved) and so even after all planning and changing my work time I still unable to see my first el clasico but now I don’t know if it is a blessing in a disguise or a bad sign that i should have foresee..
Even if I knew what was coming I still wish I able to see it with my own eye, live.
If we here are all sad and frustrated and angry and disappointed.. Can you just imagine what our players are going through??

All I can say is that I don’t mind what Sergio did. Sergio is young, he’s experienced in games, but still young in the mind. I cna only imagine the defeat, the tension, the arena, the fans, the Barca players maybe talking shit, it could get to Sergio’s mind.
I am Real Madrid for life and I know this is not the end for us. Not with Mourinho. And Sergio Ramos is puro blanco. And if jerks like Xavi are being annoying, then screw them. I admire Barca’s football abilities, but they’re players really irk me. I don’t like any of them and I’m glad I don’t!

Totallly agree with you. I also applauded what Sergio did yesterday, Well done Sergio. It takes some balls to do that and he did it. The barca players were so annoying as usual. But let them enjoy while they can, I trust our team and i’m sure they will succeed. I just love them no matter what : )
some thoughts:
1. iker is a true captain. and you can see that the barca players (esp those from the snt) have respect for him. he pacifies and does not incite.
2. on the other hand, i did not see much of the same from puyol. maybe he was just out of camera range but just did not get any sense that he’s a peacemaker. although he was gracious towards sergio after the game. that’s just classy.
3. guardiola, for a coach, was churlish. respect is earned and you dont earn it by being churlish. that said, ronaldo should still not have pushed him. THAT reflects on him poorly.
4. now, sergio. ah, sergio. i agree with those who posted that it was kinda hot of him to shove/slap puyol and xavi. gotta love some street in a guy, right? then you know he can defend you. plus it was a kind of manly move for a guy with boy band looks. (again) that said, he has to always be mindful of the responsibility he has. perhaps he can just focus on his niece and what she’ll think of him when she’s grown. whatever gets on the internet never gets erased. ever.
the foul was not a flagrant foul, imho, and the barca players rushing to him with presumably words thrown about WAS irksome. xavi yapping at him on the sideline did not help. xavi should be more like iker. they are, after all, contemporaries.
5. did not care for victor valdes’ behavior. not captain material.
i take my comment on victor valdes back. he helped out with pique in the end.
It is clear that Ramos has a problem with Pique. After he pushed Puyol, Valdes, arbeloa ,casillas and iniesta go to stop pique . Ramos was also shouting at pique and also tries to go at him but is stopped by bojan and khedira.
i think it’s more like pique has a problem with everybody he opposes. he’s almost always the first one in there.
have been watching you tube clip of the fracas and i must say at this point i am finding some humor in it. sergio’s actions vs puyol and xavi were like get-out-of-my-face motions. xavi was piling on and got that move for his troubles. when a madrid player went to xavi, xavi shoved him and xavi was given a yellow card.
sergio after shoving puyol was having it out with pique but others intervened. but sergio still got to lunge threateningly towards pique before players from both teams finally were able to separate them.
…I’m finding humor in all of this now, too. Sounds so bad, but I can’t stop watching it!

After yesterday’s match I felt horrible. Because of lose, because of players’ behavior. Thank you, thank you, thank you nadi for this post. When I read it, I felt better. What’s done is done, but we’re still in the game. And can still win.

I already have this uneasy feeling inside me a week before el Classico. Although I like both teams, I would love to see RM win this one. I know that it will be almost impossible to beat Barca at Camp Nou so I’ve prepared myself for RM’s first loss. But I didn’t expect it to be THIS BAD. I was hoping that it’ll be more evenly match.
I woke up at 3.30 am just to watch this match and failed to sleep after it ended (obviously caused by the shocking result) I went to work sleepy and frustrated and still feeling the same right now. I’ve no idea how the boys dealing with it. I just hope that they’ll manage to pick themselves up and win the match against Valencia next.

It is football, in some days you win, in others you fell. The annoying fact is that it is only with RM that Mourinho got such a result; no other team had humiliated him this much. I do not know how he will work it out within himself and with the team.
Wow, this game certainly generated a lot of reaction! I was in meetings during the match, fidgeting throughout wondering how the boys were doing – and was a bit stunned when I got back to my computer and checked the score [3-0 at that point]! I must be some sort of masochist as I watched the match when i got home – not many positives to take away as a madrid fan for sure – boy Barca are a well oiled machine. One of the papers referred to Xavi as a cyclone and I thought it was a perfect description! But as many – including Mou – said in all the hype leading up to to the match it is just one match – we just have to pick ourselves up now and carry on. Was glad to see Puyol’s post match comments about Sergio – I’m not condoning it but shit happens in such a tense match – hope it is all forgotten. Una hopefully you are not too depressed to do a full ICYMI for this match at some point – am sure you can pick out some gems even from this result that will make us all smile/laugh [or maybe cry!] Cheers.

I’m not converting to Barcelona at all, but they played really beautifully yesterday. Or maybe it just seemed that way, because we played so bad. But it’s time to look into the future!

Only 2 points behind and there’s still 25 gameweek to play including “El Clasico” part II in our own stadium Bernaebeu. For the record Mourinho never lose at home since 2002, i’m sure we’ll get them back when we meet them in our stadium. Now all we need to do is support the team, forget about this, keep looking forward and i’m sure Mourinho will make this team even stronger than before.

It is difficult not to look with dislike and disgust upon a few of the sorest losers on the Madrid squad which was embarrassed during the Nov.29 El Clasico. Such unsportsmanlike behaviour is shameful and it has really left me feeling quite negative toward those who acted out that evening.
