four months
Gonzalo Higuaín’s surgery was a success! He was operated on today by Dr. Richard Fessler at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, accompanied by Dr. Carlos Díez and Dr. Daniel Armando Martínez, the team doctor from the Argentine national team. He’ll spend the night in the hospital, and be allowed to check out on Wednesday. Pipita’s father Jorge aka Pipa told Marca that “everything went well.” Gonzalo was in the operating room for three hours, although the operation itself only took one hour and 15 minutes. He’ll stay in Chicago for one more week for check-ups.
Dr. Fessler said the operation was a success, but that it would take four months until Higuaín is ready to return to the field, at which point the player will be 95%, since the total recovery period is a year. Gonzalo can begin stretching in one week and running in two to three weeks, and start training in two months time.

Success? this is the best news, i was afraid that (god forbid) he won’t walk again given the seriousness of the operation.
No rush baby, your health is our trophy…
I miss him badly! But important now is that he recovers well. I wish him all the best for that!
Fuerza Gonza, todo va a salir bien!
Thank g-d that it all went so well. Here’s hoping for a quick and total recovery.
Poor guy! I wish him the best of luck; darn if only Chicago wasn’t 10 hours away from here 😦 boo travel distances
*sigh of relief*
Thank goodness 🙂
YAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m so relieved!!! Get well prontoPipita!!!!
😀
Alhamdulillah.. take your time to recover Pipita.. Because we love you!
Well you will all be glad to know that the Chicago Tribune FINALLY put 2 articles in the paper today about Pipita’s surgery.
Oddly enough, they weren’t posted until 1 p.m. here…only 5 hours after I turned in the tip. My country is so lame when it comes to soccer! pfft
Correction 2 articles that are exactly the same but posted on different pages on the site.

Ohh thank God! I’m so relieved! Now for the recovery stage. I really really do miss him but there’s no rush. I’d much rather wait a long time to make sure he’s completely healed. Get well Pipita!
