Gonzalo Higuaín’s surgery was a success!  He was operated on today by Dr. Richard Fessler at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, accompanied by Dr. Carlos Díez and Dr. Daniel Armando Martínez, the team doctor from the Argentine national team.  He’ll spend the night in the hospital, and be allowed to check out on Wednesday.  Pipita’s father Jorge aka Pipa told Marca that “everything went well.”  Gonzalo was in the operating room for three hours, although the operation itself only took one hour and 15 minutes.  He’ll stay in Chicago for one more week for check-ups.

Dr. Fessler said the operation was a success, but that it would take four months until Higuaín is ready to return to the field, at which point the player will be 95%, since the total recovery period is a year.  Gonzalo can begin stretching in one week and running in two to three weeks, and start training in two months time.
