following Real Madrid…

still perfect…

Here are the highlights from the Vogue España article accompanying the perfect Xabi & Nagore pictures.  And yes, they’re just as perfect in life as they appear in the pictures.  So, if you’re sitting down and preferably have a bottle of whiskey, bourbon, etc. within reach, keep on reading.

Nagore on Xabi: I can’t complain, I have a lot of luck.  Xabi is not into going out and partying.  He spends all the free time he has with us.  As soon as the game or the training session ends, he comes directly home.

Xabi on Iker’s appearance in Vogue: when that picture came out, we took some barbs at him, such as “you need a bit of self tanner” or “you need a bit more muscle there” so I was prepared for this shoot.

Xabi on leading a normal life: I think I’m able to do that.  I don’t let my work determine how I live my life.  My normal day can include going out to eat with Cristiano or Iker or something as normal as taking a walk with my wife on Serrano [the street in Madrid where the most designer shops are located, in the neighborhood where they live] or feeding breakfast to my kids.

Xabi on living in Madrid proper, rather than the suburbs: we tried to [live in Pozuelo de Alarcón], but we both prefer living in the center of Madrid and Madrid is a wonderful city to live in.  So, we moved.

Nagore’s take: now, we’re just two more people in the neighborhood.

Nagore on spare time: with kids, you never know when you’ll be able to do things.  [She has recently finished a course on photography and has taken up classical ballet again, which she stopped doing as an adolescent.]  It’s great, but also requires a lot of sacrifice.  I remember that when I was young, I even attended a school in Germany but I didn’t like the atmosphere so I left.  Now that my children are growing up, I can go back to my old ways.  [She is also taking long distance learning courses from the Universidad de Deusto in entrepreneurship and business.]  Who knows, maybe tomorrow I’ll set up something.

Xabi on twitter: it was Arbeloa who opened the account for me.

Nagore on fashion: I love fashion.  Some years ago, I worked with a tailor in his shop in San Sebastián, Auzmendi.  That was craftsmanship.  But then people started demanding designer labels, such as Marni or Balenciagoa.  And they had to incorporate them.

Xabi on fashion: how you dress says a lot about yourself.  I’m very classical when it comes to clothes, but not old-fashioned.  I like to look at the details and study what I put on.  I love watches and shoes, but I’m not a fashion victim.

Nagore on how they met [when the subject was brought up, Xabi kept saying no, no, no, that he didn’t want to talk about it, but who can blame Nagore for wanting to reveal this?]: it was more than eight years ago, we were in the same group of friends, and one night, he asked for my mobile.  I thought he had forgotten his, but he wanted something else:  he called his own phone with mine so that he would have my number, and I would have his.  The next day, he called me, we went out to eat in a great restaurant in San Sebastián and after that we went to a jazz club to meet up with Mikel and his girlfriend.  He asked us, “but what are you doing here?  And together?”

Nagore on moving to Liverpool: it was the best decision I ever made.  The relationship took one more step forward.  I was working on the production team of the film Aupa Etxebeste! and I packed my suitcases and left.  Those years were wonderful.

Xabi and Nagore on meeting Clive Owen:

Nagore:  after a Liverpool game, I met Clive Owen, a huge fan of Liverpool.  He’s so handsome…

Xabi:  you ignored me completely and went straight for him…

Nagore:  Whatever!  He was speaking with you and I saw that it was the perfect opportunity.  [She turns and whispers to the reporter]: I took a photo with him.  I’ll show you later.

Details from the photoshoot:

– it took place right before Christmas.  Xabi arrived late, for which he apologized, because Mou kept them for a bit longer, and then he went to pick up Jon from school.

– Nagore thought the dresses for the photoshoot were “marvelous and sexy” and commented that she would like to have all the shoes from it.

– Xabi introduces himself with a “hi, I’m Xabi, a pleasure.”

– as he watches Nagore shoot her photos, he says, “she’s gorgeous, like always.”

Sorry to overuse the word perfect, but really, is there any other way to describe these two?  And the other thing is, you can’t even hate her because she is obviously his perfect complement.
