quote of the day – Pepe

February 16, 2011

Pepe, in an interview in today’s Marca, on his contract renewal:

I’m capable of yielding in everything to stay with Real Madrid.  For me, being here is the maximum; it’s a privilege to be able to enjoy this club and I’ll do everything to stay.  Right now, it’s the love of my life.

He went on to say, “as a kid, I always dreamed of playing for Real Madrid and when I heard that they wanted to sign me, I told my agent that I only wanted to go to Real Madrid, even though I had other big offers… I would like to retire in this club.”

Pepe added that he loves living in Madrid, because “the people are wonderful, I like walking around and my girlfriend is studying medicine here.  I like to take walks on C/ Fuencarral because it reminds me of my childhood in Brazil.  I get a coffee and I enjoy my life.”

Come on FP, re-sign Pepe so that one day I might run into him on Fuencarral!!

This is lovely to read after all these rumours that he’s fed up with the club and wants to leave over the contract negotiations. If he were fed up he wouldn’t speak like this.

re-sign Pepe!! Is there already a campaign for this? I’d sign. 😀

Ha! When I go to Madrid next month, I’m staying on Fuencarral — I’m going to be looking for Pepe!!!!

I’m glad he wants to stay at Madrid. When I watched the Espanyol game, I was like, “WELCOME BACK PEPE!” He really made a difference in that game!

Can I ask an unrelated question? I will be in Madrid the weekend that Real Madrid plays Atletico Madrid at Vicente Calderon. If I go to the game, how do I buy tickets so that I know I’ll be seated with the Real Madrid fans? Can anyone here help me figure that out? Thank you and HALA MADRID!

A lot of times those areas are set aside for the peñas, but if you go to the Calderón to buy the tickets, you can ask.

oh crunchy! you are so fortunate! I hope you get in and have a great game to watch! Have a great time in madrid. If you run into Iker, give him a great big smooch for all of us!

Okay, call me stupid, but I speak Spanish, my mother speaks Spanish, and neither of us knows what peñas means! Please explain!

Looking online, the whole ticketing procedure for Li Liga games is confusing. Surely there’s an easier way!

Emily, trust me, I will totally be on the lookout for the guys of Real Madrid!!!

IsaBella, que tengas un buen viaje!

A peña is an official supporters group of a club. They are registered with the club, so they have special advantages.
