Thank you to everyone who sent things in!  Let’s get started…

Álvaro Arbeloa-Carlota Ruiz wedding photos

I had just mentioned Álvaro’s wedding in a previous post, and here we have photos from that event, courtesy of LaBlanca.  How beautiful is this couple?  View the rest here.

Pipita’s dream comes true

Andrea Paola sends this video of Gonzalo Higuaín as a kid, saying that he wants to go to Real Madrid.  She recorded it off her TV!  See, dreams do come true!

Here’s the same video from Mokia, which also includes one of Pipita’s brothers talking.

Our worst enemy

Fátima says this “is probably really stupid, but I cannot stop laughing.”  Go here to see what it is!

Isabella on Madrid’s players

Isabella was in Valdebebas a couple of weeks ago, and she got to meet some of the players.  She says, “Some things I will say are not nice, but I will be careful because I know how many fans are here and I don’t want to hurt anybody’s ‘imagination’ of a particular player.  There is also information that I will and I must keep to myself for various reasons. Therefore I may not be able to answer all questions that you might have.”  Here’s her report.

Manu Adebayor – unfortunately, nothing nice to say here; he was signed for Madrid two months ago and already acts like an offended diva. He mercifully agreed to say a few words for me in French although it was more like ‘yes’ ‘no’ answers than a conversation. It do not consider it a ‘bad mood day’ because as far as I’ve been told he acts like this all the time. Moreover, he completely ignores the fans.

Raúl Albiol – he looks much better in real life than on TV, very positive overall impression.

Karim Benzema – one of the nicest players in the whole team; he acts humble, he’s always ready for an interview, gives you all the time you need, agrees to photos, gives autographs to the fans: I remember a quiet big group of French fans waiting for him in the fan zone of Valdebebas, they literally threw themselves at him and he didn’t say a word, posed for as many photos as they wanted and gave a zillion autographs. I spoke to him in French but his Spanish is quite good as far as I heard.

Álvaro Arbeloa – after he gave me a personal present (which almost made me pass out) and a dozen of kisses I’ve become platonically in love with him. I don’t think it needs any further explanation.

Ezequiel Garay – he’s a hottie for all the women who like black hair, earrings and Hollywood white teeth; apart from that he’s rather distant, it’s quite hard to speak with him, you need to force him to say anything.

Gonzalo Higuaín – three words that say all about him: he is fantastic; he has beautiful eyes and he likes flamenco. I can even forget about his terrible teeth and bitten nails considering the sweet conversation that we had.

Iker Casillas – a classy, elegant man, very well behaved with women, likes young girls who ask for autographs (especially the blond ones as far as I noticed); it’s a pleasure to speak to him. He’s very calm and measures carefully all his words. Likes grey clothes and scarfs. The good news is that he’s able to let go of his cell phone at least for the time of the interview. I was thinking about Una all the time we spoke and I almost mentioned her to Iker.

Sami Khedira – he speaks perfect English and doesn’t like the attention. Reluctantly agrees for photos and interviews.

Marcelo – he listen to outrageous music, all right maybe it’s too harsh, so to music that is very loud and that I didn’t like 😉 he has a tattoo on his right hand finger, unfortunately I didn’t have time to ask him what it is, but it looked like the first letter of his son’s name (Enzo?). He is very patient with kids who tend to jump on him, but he gets very angry when you try to touch his hair.

Jerzy Dudek – I’m of course a bit biased when talking about him because he comes from my country. He was the only player who called me ‘Miss’ and not ‘you.’ Very kind to the fans and well… speaking Polish with him made me so happy that I didn’t pay attention to much else 😉

Aitor Karanka – saying it in Sergio’s way: ‘super nice’ guy, very open, smiling, says all the time nice things about Mou (it’s part of his job, no? 😉 adores the fans (and a super plus to him for that!)

Ricardo Carvalho – I got the impression that he borrows sunglasses from Cristiano 😉 Besides, he’s a sweet pie, seems a very gentle and loving person; of course it may be just a superficial impression but he was really sweet with me. Unfortunately, my Portuguese is pretty terrible so he spoke his semi-Spanish and English with me.

Pedro León – he always has a very disgusted face expression which can be appealing. He has an utmost respect for the fans (a huge plus here as well!).

Sergio Canales – the sweetest boy on earth who drives a car that is ten times bigger than him; I loved how he adored my eyes.  He must shave however, because his facial hair does not suit him.

Sergio Ramos – a bigger description here because I know you want to know as much as possible about him. I spoke to him twice. It was difficult to get to him but I managed. He’s very often surrounded by his assistants, PR specialists, stylists or whoever they are. He’s rarely alone at Valdebebas.

He wears contact lenses that change his eye color. It is impossible to have two so much different colors only because of the light. Once they are very light brown, like nut or caramel (much like his hair) and another day they’re almost black.

When I saw him for the second time he had very short sleeves so I could see most of his tattoos. Personally, I think they are very ugly (says a tattoo fan) but it’s of course a matter of taste.

I got a sweet kissing dedicated autograph from Sergio and we also have a nice photo together. I also discovered his personal weakness, but I’ll keep that as my sweet female triumph secret 😉 and oh, and I got him to speak English. He’s very ashamed but he tries and he’s not doing bad.

A not-so-nice remark at the end: it’s actually a warning to all SR fans; do not ever try to throw yourself at him or force him to give you an autograph.

It took me three days to figure out what his weakness is and therefore how to easily get him to speak to me (it’s not enough to just ask, he’s a complicated person). The first interview I got was a piece of trash, just like those I got back in October at Las Rozas. You need to try harder than hard with Mr. Ramos. It requires a good dose of observation spirit.

There is a journalist joke that I heard at Valdebebas: if you cut off Sergio Ramos’ head it flies because it doesn’t weigh anything, it’s completely empty.

Bonuses: I saw Zinedine Zidane at Valdebebas (doesn’t his son train there?) but unfortunately I had no chance to speak to him. He looks amazing.

I found Cristiano’s house in La Finca. It’s nicely visible since there’s no fence 😉 I also found out that he has a discoteca there so he doesn’t need to go anywhere for fiestas. He also has a private DJ. Very comfortable solution.

Pepe’s long lost twin?

Lexi Jessica says, “it’s not much but I think Pepe and actor/musician Evan Ross look quite similar, especially from some angles. Whenever I watch the TV series 90210 and Evan Ross appears on the screen, I’m immediately reminded of Pepe. Could just be me but you might see if too…”

Marcelo and Pedro León

Paul Galactico sends two articles he wrote for Bleacher Report.  The first one deals with Marcelo and his rise to prominence, while the second is about Pedro León’s sticky situation.

The Special One

Readers Kat and Christine both sent these two Grant Wahl articles about Mou.  First one here, second one here.

Fan art

Robbert Schefman is a graphic designer and he made these cool Real Madrid pieces!

The Xabi Alonso pose section™

Regan says, “It seems President Obama has learned his football skills from one Xabi Alonso.  Or at least his posing while playing football.”  See what she’s talking about here

I will make a mental note not to throw myself at Sergio Ramos and/or force him to take a picture or sign autograph. I don’t wanna get on his bad side! Btw, those fan art are gorgeous!

i do not know who isabella is, but i think it is really disgusting that she would speculate about khedira being gay, and make assumptions based on clothing or what he looks like, or whatever.

on top of that, i’m kind of disappointed that this post would include her comments, because a lot of it could just be made up! it’s anonymous, and who are we to believe some random groupie stories?

I was equally disgusted – also by the comments on Adebayor. So he doesn’t do well with fans? Big deal. The man still suffers following last year’s incident, continually hears phantom-gunshots and is nervous in large crowds. A little empathy would be nice for someone who probably still has PTSD.

Also – her liking and disliking players is based a little too much on how friendly they were to her – which is no measure of any kind. Maybe the players who were less friendly could sense that they had a mean-spirited, impossible to please person on their hands and intelligently stayed away.

And for Sami – yes. I was very disappointed by that throw-away comment. This is a widely read blog and while rumours like that shouldn’t mean anything in the sport, for the moment they do, and they can be hurtful to the careers, families and girlfriends of the players.

My jaw dropped open when I read the part about Sergio hitting a girl with his car. That’s the one thing that grabbed me out of this. And my only reaction was OMG and not in a good way.

Really great and interesting contributions. In re: Isabella’s reports on meeting the players. Two things stood out:

Marcelo: “but he gets very angry when you try to touch his hair.” I know how he feels, I wouldn’t want a stranger touching my hair either! I find it amazing that someone would try to do that. It seems like a violation.

The one thing that you said, Isabella, that greatly concerned me was that Sergio Ramos intentionally hit an autograph seeking fan with his car. That’s a very serious charge and one that could have criminal implications. I’m really hoping that this is some sort of language translation misunderstanding. Did the girl try to jump on/at the car while it was moving and that is how she got hit? Or did she run at him and he deliberately aimed the car at her and hit her? Unfortunately, it comes out like the latter in your report: “A not-so-nice remark at the end: it’s actually a warning to all SR fans; do not ever try to throw yourself at him or force him to give you an autograph; I saw a girl who tried to do this and he hit her with his car (I was really worried that she got hurt but fortunately nothing serious happened, she was only a little shaken by the whole incident); of course he didn’t stop to see if she was ok, he just stepped on the gas and was gone in 60 seconds. So please think twice.”

I would really appreciate it if you could clarify that. People pick this sort of stuff up and it gets spread all around the internet.

I can understand why he would keep moving – if someone is nuts enough to run in front of your car, who knows what they will do if they actually get their hands on you. I find it disturbing that fans would act this way, but I know it happens. I worked in the music industry for many years and saw it quite a bit. I would never want to be in the middle of that sort of scene. I can imagine that this is a regular occurrence for Sergio.

Of course, now I’m dying to know how you got Sergio’s attention! LOL!

Putting herself in front of the car is NOT the same as him purposely hitting her.

I never mentioned the word “purposely”.

        • March 30, 2011 17:26

Since for some reason I can’t reply to your comment IsaBella, I will say this – you certainly implied it! You said this: “A not-so-nice remark at the end: it’s actually a warning to all SR fans; do not ever try to throw yourself at him or force him to give you an autograph; I saw a girl who tried to do this and he hit her with his car (I was really worried that she got hurt but fortunately nothing serious happened, she was only a little shaken by the whole incident); of course he didn’t stop to see if she was ok, he just stepped on the gas and was gone in 60 seconds. So please think twice.”

You implied that he hit her *because* she tried to force him to give her an autograph. It’s a little too late to go back and close the barn door now – the horse is out. You owe the players and the fans an apology for your flippant and irresponsible remarks.

“Sami Khedira – my friend said a very funny thing ‘If there are 25 guys in the team one of them must be gay’; Sami looks like the perfect candidate for this position, considering his appearance, although of course I have no proof of that.”

What a respectless and not funny at all comment, especially considering that he gave some of his free time to your “interview” and photos, Isabella.

    1. drawing conclusions on someone’s sexuality based on someone’s appearance is highly ignorant.
    2. if it’s the case that he is gay, it is no one’s business to out him. It is a private matter and up to himself.

sorry if this comes across a bit harsh, but this is one of my pet peeves.

ok, thanks for this otherwise entertaining submissions post, UM 🙂

    • March 29, 2011 10:55

Completely agree. Speculating on someone’s sexuality isn’t called for.

Everything she said is her opinion or perception only, so it’s interesting to read, but sometimes it came as though she was presenting herself as a journalist and sometimes as a fan. I hope fan only, because otherwise a lot of what she said was highly irresponsible. Still, it is interesting to get these insights.

Wow… Sergio hit a girl with his car?! I’m sure it was an accident and glad she was okay but not even stopping… I would never have thought it of him. Still, hoping it wasn’t as bad as it sounds,
I assume if it was, the press would have been all over it?

Still, between Granero’s racially insensitive comment (he seems to love China, his sister-in-law and nephews/nieces so I will assume he didn’t mean it as badly as it came across) and Sergio’s “hit and run” my favourite players aren’t really doing too well. 😦

I bet Mou drills them on their manners lol

And omg, Álvaro and Carlota’s wedding pictures… :3

  13. March 28, 2011 18:49

Those are some lovely pictures of Alvaro and Carlota. And am I the only one who noticed that she kind of looks like our all-time favorite Madrid WAG, Nagore? But why is Alvaro so skinny in the pictures?

Iker likes grey and scarfs. And Marcelo gets angry when you try to touch his hair. Of course. Haha. Nothing really surprised me about the player encounters (even the one about Adebayor). Except maybe Sergio hitting a fan with a car. I find that hard to believe, not because he is an RM player, but I just find that hard to belief of anyone. 😦 I sure hope there was just a misunderstanding of the situation.

And I completely forgot that you were doing this fan submission thing when I sent you the links to the Mou article! Ha! That was lucky.

If Isabella is reading the comments, I’m curious – did you just see the players in their cars driving in or did you get more face time with them later? Were those interviews because you are a journalist/blogger, or do you just mean they spoke with you as a fan? Either way, you’re very lucky!

Alvaro and Carlota… <3. Our players are not only perfect, their WAGS are pretty much perfect as well!
Pipita and his bro are the cutest! They look so much alike. It's really heartwarming that he's fufilling his dream.
Iker's undershirt… I litterally giggled over that thing for about 20 minutes. I was at the library and people kept giving me weird looks. Haha, whoever made that is a genious.
Aw, Benzy… he seems so nice. And Iker's apparent preference for "the blond ones"… well, I'm conforted by this
Haha, I didn't know who Evan Ross was until today. They do look alike!! I think they could be brothers.
And I agree with the Bleacherreport article about Marcelo. He really is turning into an amazing LB! And Pedro Leon… hopefully he'll stay and make a lasting impression on RM.
Hmm… Mou wants to coach MLS? Come to Chicago Fire! I'll be at least somewhat within driving distance…

Another fan from the Chicago area? Small world indeed! And YES! Mou the Fire are an excellent choice since I’m not convinced AT ALL that de los Cobos and now we’re going to play Manchester United? I don’t think that will be pretty. 😮

      Now, back on topic:
I have to agree with the other posters about the Sami comment. Not appropriate at all! He is paid to play football, regardless of his sexual orientation. Thank you Una for removing that part of her comment.

I also was a bit disheartened by Sergio hitting that girl but I wasn’t there and didn’t see the entire incident so I can’t really judge. For all we know Sergio has had previous encounters with this girl (who knows…she could be a stalker fan?) and he’s learned that the only way to avoid this behavior is to drive off and not stop. Anyway, I’m sure if anything serious happened, the press would have been all over it.

And about Manu, perhaps Isabella caught him on a bad day? It happens. We really don’t know all that happens in practice or in the locker room or in his personal life for that matter. Because of that, I’ll give him a pass. 😉

Arbeloa and Carlota’s wedding pics are fantastic. What a nice looking couple! And Carlota…she’s really pretty. And her dress & the church? Stunning!!

Hi DebS!! I lived in Chicago for about 11 years, but I just moved recently. 😦 However, it now takes me about 3 hours to drive to Chicago, which is still less than what it would take me to drive to any other MLS city. I miss everything about it, the lake, UChicago, Giordanos (which I heard recently was going bankrupt?!?!), Museum Campus… 😦 Haha, I don’t either, but remember when Real Madrid came to LA? The Galaxy didn’t do too bad! Mou coming would be great, but something in my gut tells me that it probably won’t happen. 😦

Regarding Isabella’s post, I personally feel that many people here are taking her comments too seriously. I agree that at times she implied that she had more “inside information” and journalistic credibility than she probably actually had. However, with the exception of the Sergio hit-and-run incident and the Adebayor African music comment, I really didn’t think too much of the post when I first read it.

The comment about Sami: I do feel that Isabella probably should have been more considerate when she said this, and I don’t agree at all with the remark. However, I feel that many of us do not take such “he could be gay” comments seriously, because such speculations are everywhere. Chances are, if you type in the name of any famous celebrity followed by the word “gay” on google you will probably find something. My problem with this comment was that it could be interpreted as homophobic, but I do not agree with those who are worrying that Sami’s career and personal life may suffer becaues of this. If a comment about Sami’s sexuality appeared on ESPN, for example, I would be concerned, but considering that it came from a fan (whose identity is more or less anonymous, and who only based her comment off of something as superficial with the way Sami dresses/grooms himself) I am not very worried.

Some people are also criticizing Isabella for her comments about Marcelo’s hair and Sergio’s eyes. “…but he gets very angry when you try to touch his hair”. IsaBella did not say, “but I thought it was unfair that he gets very angry when you try to touch his hair” or “but it was stupid when he gets very angry when you try to touch his hair”. Same with Sergio’s contacts. She only stated that it seemed like he was wearing contacts, not that there was anything wrong about wearing them. They are just observations.

I think overall her post may have offended some people, and that she probably should have been more responsible when she mentioned the Sergio incident, and thought twice before her comment about Adebayor’s music. Some of what she said (about Adebayor being rude, Ramos’s tattoos) were simply her own opinions, which she should have the freedom to express. Overall, I think that Isabella’s words are being blown out of proportion, and that we should move on and stop arguing over something so insignificant.

It’s nothing more than an unsubstantiated rumour. We don’t know who this “Isabella” is or what she’s like (though from her comments we can guess she is a little self-absorbed) so don’t lose any sleep over it unless it is verified elsewhere.

After reading that fan report, I really want to meet Marcelo and Ricardo Carvalho. Mainly because Marcelo’s hair is so touchable LOL, and Carvalho is so lovely and friendly despite being so fierce when getting cards, hahaha. I’d love to meet Sergio Canales too. He seems very sweet/innocent on TV too.

I am troubled by the whole “Isabella on Madrid’s players” section. It seems to be more attention seeking then actual info. Implications that she is holding something back and knows more than others. Referring to “interviews” when it seems little more than the standard fans stalking their cars situation. I am actually surprised you consented to post it.

Your posts are usually quite good. Informative and interesting. I can understand the desire to give your readers a more active part in the blog, however I think this post is by far the worst you’ve made. Sorry honey.

And Sami’s description — what makes his appearance different from the others to make him the one most probable to be gay? There is not one definition or imagery of being gay. I find reporting about that irresponsible.

And the car incident involving Sergio – how come no one reported about that? I would assume that if he got into a hit-and-run, it would be all over the news.

most of Isabella’s story reads like something from ‘tales of a groupie’ or girls who used to claim they were dating a member of hanson. and the comments about Sami’s sexuality and Adebayor’s ~original~ taste in music are borderline homophobic or racist.
What publication do you work for that you could go and get interviews over the course of several days, yet be stuck amongst the enthusiastic fans after autographs? and to then go and post your ~scoop~ on a non-professional blog?
This reads like any account of a fan getting autographs with a liberal number of attention-seeking embellishments. trying to deter other people from liking HER favourite?

and to all the people concerned about Sergio hitting a fan, EVERY other fan account says he is the one who stops and gives autographs when everyone else walks on, and this can be seen in videos too. I hardly think he’d run someone over and drive off.

I am glad you pointed out the race angle. I have posted elsewhere that I consider her speculation on a player’s sexuality to be irresponsible.

When it comes to Adebayor we have a player who is greatly liked by journalists (he was a BBC pundit during the World Cup himself) who has worked hard, earned the respect of fans at the Bernabeu for his obvious efforts, who has given fun and intelligent interviews and who hasn’t stopped smiling since he arrived.

I’m sorry to have to say this, but based on what we know of him since he arrived, the only possible reason anyone would have for holding back liking or admiration of him would have to be on racial grounds – conscious or unconscious – but like women in business, black men in sport always have to work harder to get respect.

A tall, blonde, Swedish striker with blue eyes arrives at Madrid, works hard, scores a couple of beautiful goals, says supportive and kind things about Benzema, gives charming interviews, makes declarations of loyalty to the club, makes friends with Ozi etc… – you wouldn’t be reading crap like this – especially if the striker in question is known to be suffering from PTSD following last year’s tragic incident.

Totally, all the other fans who has met Sergio Ramos all said he’s super nice and loves his fans.

    • April 26, 2011 03:17

Among the many other quotes in Isabella’s reflection on her encounters with the players that left a bad taste in my mouth was this one:

“Iker Casillas…likes young girls who ask for autographs (especially the blond ones as far as I noticed)”

There were many irresponsible claims made in the submission which were far too opinionated to be considered legitimate relations of events, but this was among the most unsettling ones (and there were still far too many of those).
The implications of the remark are unfair, non-fact based, and certainly very damaging. Whatever reaction the writer was hoping to encourage in the reader with that statement, they’ve certainly achieved this one – Iker is made out to be judgmental, and shallow (and not to mention slightly creepy).
Unfortunately for that demanding fan, the irresponsible and biased ‘recollections’ have ruined their credibility quite effectively.
(I say ‘unfortunately’, because it was clear that the purpose of the submission was to have an effect on and even reverse the images that fans have of the players, but with no credibility, that purpose is ultimately irrelevant.)

So I just balance them out. 🙂 btw i don’t get why Isabella would want to tease the readers about her knowing Sergio’s personal weakness? if you really know something and it’s a secret, keep it to yourself honey. and that’ll be it, no? 😛

I don’t think the writer should speculate about Sami’s sexuality; it’s just not anyone’s business. Also that could be damaging to him & his career should that get repeated & changed & translated incorrectly on the internet/in the media. There is a lot of prejudice towards homosexuals & that can really damage someone’s career or in the least just be really embarrasing to have to defend yourself from an internet rumour. Also the commenter above has a point about the incident with Sergio & the girl getting the autograph. It does sound like hit & run the way its described. Maybe Sami just was worn out from interviews & photos — it probably does get tiresome esp since the press in Spain has not been too kind to him.

The total silence that surrounds the G word makes it virtually impossible even to speak about it in spain. And for god’s sake who cares about a crazy fan. If you search the internet you will find Muuuuuuch worse things even about more iconic players.

And, really, no one cares about the lacking moral in a footy or the press – it is kind of taken for granted – the only thing that matters is how the player performs.

So I just wanna say one thing: this comes from a person who’s met the Spain NT twice and knows many of the players that you’re talking about in this post. This fan should learn what RESPECT IS. She obviously doesn’t know that. Her comments are simply offensive, take what she said about Higuain for example: “I can even forget about his terrible teeth and bitten nails considering the sweet conversation that we had.” Yeah girl, you must be perfect-looking since you’re saying this. Go look in the mirror and if you’re a “reporter” you should make professional statements instead of this gossip shit.

But what disgusted me the most is what she said about Sergio Ramos.
    1. The contact lenses thing: how do you know that he wears them? And if he does, why is this so relevant? Once again, make professional comments if you’re a “reporter”
    2. Why do you think that only because you’re a “reporter”, he’s obliged to give you an interview? They’re advised to give interviews to media that they know, that are reliable, are you reliable? He doesn’t even know who you are, are you from a famous magazine or something like that? No. So stop making a fuss only because he didn’t want to give you an interview at first.
    3. Nobody cares if you don’t like his tattoos. Once again, professionalism, do you know what it is?
    4. “It took me three days to figure out what his weakness is and therefore how to easily get him to speak to me (it’s not enough to just ask, he’s a complicated person). ” HAHAHAHA this is the shittiest shit that you said in this post. SO NOW YOU KNOW HIS “WEAKNESS”? HAHAHA. So now you know his kryptonite? Woaaah. Lemme tell you one thing: there’s no such thing as “you have to try harder than hard with Ramos”, you just have to be polite and talk decently to him, that’s all. There are no secrets. He’s not “complicated”, and you’re not close to him to imply that , so please once again if you want to be a professional “”””reporter”””” don’t make assumptions because the press is full of them.
    5. The “Sergio ran over a fan” thing. This is slander, girl. Do you know you could be at least sued for what you just said? Do you have proof? I won’t even say “pictures or it didn’t happen”, I just don’t believe in you and I think you’re seriously overreacting and making it up. You should NEVER, EVER say such a thing if you’re a “reporter”. I honestly think Sergio would NEVER do such a thing, maybe he just left when the girl tried to jump over his car and know you’re slandering him.
    6. “There is a journalist joke that I heard at Valdebebas: if you cut off Sergio Ramos’ head it flies because it doesn’t weigh anything, it’s completely empty.” So shameful. Your attitude is shameful, woman. If he read this he would be disgusted. I hope he doesn’t so that he doesn’t know what his fans say about him just after he gives them an autograph and takes pictures with them. Ungrateful people will always be ungrateful. I’m really sorry for you because you didn’t know how to appreciate the moment , you don’t know how to appreciate his talent and his personality. You’re just an impolite girl pretending to be a “reporter” (if you keep writing this way , oh boy, you’ll be sued) who doesn’t know what respect is. Shame on you, girl.

  43. March 29, 2011 17:29

Okay, so, in the past, Isabella has left us with the impression that she has inside access to Los Blancos, talking about the thrill of walking up the steps from below, into the Bernabeu, and using leading words like ‘interview’ and ‘secrets’ and ‘encounter’. We all want to believe that she has this kind of access, but, as soon as I saw the first picture, I said ‘Ohhhhh, I see, she’s just waiting at the gate where all the other autograph seekers hang at Valdebebas.’

She can’t possibly be an actual journalist who understands the true nature of on record/off record reporting. The speculative nature of some of her statements is reprehensible and unacceptable. It’s editorial in its purest form, but completely inappropriate. If Sergio truly ‘hit’ this girl, the first thing Isa should have done was call the police, not stand there and scribble it in her notebook, or blab into her tape recorder, or however she takes notes. This could turn out to be a nightmare for Sergio, simply by her posting it on the web as a fact. We all know how the internet acts. We see it in the above posts that display concern for the victim and doubt about Sergio’s integrity. So, fangirls around the world right now are probably buzzing at the notion that Sergio is a criminal. Can you imagine how many people will start coming forward with tales of being the girl who was hit by sergio, trying to make a claim for money?
Folks, please remember that there are two sides to every story, including the one that you are reading above. We don’t know of the veracity of any of Isa’s claims. Whether true or not, one can only imagine why she would intentionally hide the ‘secret’ attention getting method she had to use to attract Sergio’s attention. We don’t really know who Isa is and even through internet anonymity, she is still unwilling to share her ‘secret’. Did Isa do something risque and embarassing to get his attention? Do we really want to know? Would we do the same thing to get someone’s attention?

So, journalist? I assume not. Fangirl with a lot of money to fly back and forth from Poland to Madrid? Possibly. We don’t really need to know what she does for a living. We all need to remember that there are two sides to every story and that you should always take the source into consideration when evaluating the veracity.

  45. March 29, 2011 23:50

This is a tad after the fact, and I see you have already edited the post but I do agree with a lot of the comments here, The section about Sami being Gay really is offensive and is no one’s business and comments like that are just unnecessary. (Especially knowing he has a gf). Also regarding Manu and his music taste, idk if you know this but that can be seen as racist.

The part about Sergio hitting someone with a car, really made me doubt the whole thing you wrote, because I don’t see how something like that would/could go unreported, also because of what you are saying you are implying he was involved in a hit-and-run situation.

Also they way you “reported” this basically implies you were in the valdebebas getting these “interviews” when by reading this it just looks like you were a fan outside the gates like so many that I know have done this, who got/or didn’t get a few words to say with the players. You may want to consider clarifying how you got these “interviews”.

Oh and also I would get angry if a stranger tried to touch my hair too, so I don’t blame Marcelo…. (even if it does look “touchable”) and everyone saw Cristiano’s house in the interview he did pre-WC for a Portuguese tv show and it is completed gated.

Apart from that little rant, I liked the rest of the submissions, and I hope some comments don’t stop people from wanting to continue to submit things to Una!!

She’s trying to make it seem like she’s got it “in” with the players when really it was just a dream. Sergio surrounded by people? That’s news to me cause last time I checked the only “people” he’s around is him, himself and he with the occasional appearance of his friend or brother. Sure there are players that have their off days and don’t feel like talking to the fans that day but they usually will keep driving or just wave and go by in a SAFELY manner and sure there are some players that aren’t so friendly as others but it’s just like everyone we know in real life. Thanks for setting things straight, Rosalina.

        Hi Isabella.

What kind of present did you got from Arbeloa?

    Thoughts from me:

First: As a person on this planet Isabella is entitled to her own opinion. But that doesn’t mean that she has to post it on the internet (or in this case a blog) knowing that a lot of people will read it and thinking that that’s the truth. People will automatic create a bad image of the players and of the club. So Isabella, maybe the next time you can keep your opinions for yourself?

Second: Whether Sami is gay or not (I personally don’t think so) is none of our business. As long as he plays well and gives a 100% for the team (which he does) then who are we to judge?

Thirth: If it’s really true that Sergio has hit a girl with his car(which I doubt) then it will be on the news the next day. And since there wasn’t, I assume that “the accident” did not happen. Again, these kinds of “news” can cause a lot of damage towards the player(s).

Fourth: I love the weddingspictures from Alvaro and his wife. She is really beautiful and he is very handsome. They make a very lovely couple.

Fifth: How cute is Gonzalo?!?!! Really love him.

Sixth: Una, your blog is amazing! I’m from Holland so I don’t get all the news that involves Real Madrid and the players. But your blog keeps me up-to-date. Keep up the good work!! Only one “dissapointment”: my favorite player is Mesut Özil. But there is not a lot of news to read about him in your blog. Maybe you can change that in the future? (Or maybe there is just not a lot of news about him…that’s also possible.) But still love your blog and the “hugh” from Sergio en Mesut in the Atletico game is so cute 🙂

This article has been reported to the powers that be at Real Madrid. It’s about time psychotic ‘fans’ got clamped down on. Needless to say, they’re not best pleased.

While I believe that IsaBella needs to be taken to task for her irresponsible remarks, I sincerely hope that reporting this to any “powers that be” will not impact una who we love and respect. She has done nothing but tirelessly promote (and may I add respectfully) Los Blancos and La Roja and doesn’t deserve any fall out from the unappealing actions of the poster in question.

Thanks again Una for the shout out.
My two-cents, if it even matters now, is that I do hope a reader fans post appears again, despitenthe craziness that Isabella post has stirred.

We all can easily imagine a fan with sort of access, however much or limited it may have been, been so much more widely accepted and enjoyed if not for a change in tastefulness regarding her remarks and posts. Obviously a fan should tell the truth in their experiences but none weighed down with accusatory and selfish biasness.

But I digress, all the other posts were fun and factual and lent more about Real Madrid than imwould have known. I wish I could endure and write a beautiful blog like Una’s if I had the time and patience, but this is a must read blog for me everyday. It’s a ‘hardcore’ Real Madrid blog for the ‘hardcore’ Real Madrid fan and am just thankful that Una would cater to her readership with this kind of participation.

    Thanks again Una.
