While the autobus carrying the players and the Cup was on the way to Cibeles, Sergio Ramos dropped the trophy while holding it up at the front of the bus and the bus ran over it!!! [UPDATE: the Cup looks quite mangled, even though Sergio tweeted that it’s okay. The maker of the Cup has facilitated a copy of the trophy presented to Iker yesterday to display in the museum, as they always make a replica back-up in as part of a contingency plan. He also said that the Cup that Sergio dropped is a “total disaster.”]
And Iker put a scarf and the flag of Real Madrid on the goddess, and then kissed her!

The commentators where just talking about how much it weighed and boom it falls! See this is why you don’t dance on an open bus while tipsy holding a heavy trophy on your head. 🙂 The best line from the commentators was when “I will survive” was playing and they suggested that it was playing because the cup survived after asking Sergio if its still alive. I hope it wasn’t crushed under the bus. I’m just glad that didn’t happen with the World Cup! haha

Oh how I wish we had celebrations like that here! From the video it didn’t look like the dropping of the trophy dampened the celebration at all. Besides, Iker holding the cup up at the stadium was so perfect that no one else will ever be able to make the cup look that good again anyway!
Although very disappointed that Barca lost, it was a thrilling match and two more yet to come. My sadness faded, however, upon seeing the video of dear Sergio and the Copa crunching. He will never, EVER live that down. He is what we call a “ham” and you cannot keep your eyes off of him…..for various reasons 🙂

it’s was a Sergio thing to do, I don’t care! I care about Real Madrid bringing the copa to Cibeles after all these years and Iker winning everything in his career now. And our canteranos being so happy and everyone else!

It was a great game. Hats off to Barca. They’re a great team, and they played well. Pinto did great on goal. Our guys came through in the end. Very nice win. Congrats. Now, let’s continue to keep our eye on the prize, and behave in a sportsman like manner with our opponets.
and hats off to Real Madrid as well. I’ve watched futbol for over 20 years and that was one of the best matches I’ve seen. It disturbs me when fellow Barca fans post ugly comments– this is such a fun site and just because you support one team does not mean you can’t appreciate the quality of an0ther. I don’t understand having to “hate” another team and it’s players, especially those with as much charisma as Sergio, Xabi, Iker, Granero, etc…. 🙂 Who could hate Sergio– it would be like hating Messi and that’s impossible!!! Visca Barca but congratulations to Real Madrid and to you Una! Here’s to many more great matches!

LOL I love him anyway. And someone made a twitter account that’s called La Copa Arrollada I believe. It’s pretty funny, they were tweeting to Sergio telling him that he has butter fingers lol.
Now I saw the vid, and what interests me now is where he did dissapear right after the cup fell. In the short vid I saw the cup fell and than Sergio. I cannot believe it happened, but certainly it is damn hilarious. It will be also remembered forever, I guess;-)

I saw it happen. I was glued to my computer on telemadrid waiting for like three hours just to see them celebrate for like 15 mins. But its ok they are worth it. And props to people in madrid that waited for hours standing up until the players showed up like at 4 in the morning
