following Real Madrid…

in case you needed it – more Copa moments

In case you needed more cheering up: here are a few more moments from the Copa del Rey final collected after I did the previous posts.

First up, this cute little “copacidio” moment from Cuatro, and this slightly disturbing montage of the players from RMTV.  They should have used a picture of Adebayor AFTER his haircut.

If this doesn’t make you feel better, then I don’t know what can.  Yes, it’s The Thigh.  That one.  Sergio was receiving treatment from it during the huddle between the end of regulation and the overtime (below), and when he sat up again, his shorts leg was conveniently rolled up.

What a job the fisio has, no?  Getting paid to rub Sergio Ramos’ thigh… It really was an unusual sight to see the players sitting down on the field, and the rest huddled over them.  Here, we can see the formation of the huddle, which came about because José Mourinho didn’t want anyone to be able to see or hear what he was telling his players.  Esteban did his part by directing traffic until he was pulled in.

Here, we have the quite long (ten seconds) hug and staring into each other’s eyes between former teammates Piqué and Cristiano.  How does Piqué always get himself into these situations?  And with his girlfriend watching too!

Two more celebration moments involving Iker: Iker falling over and doling out the hugs, as a good captain should.  I’d volunteer to be in his troop any day if this were the reward.

The players celebrate the end of the game with dancing, and an epic hug between Cris and Gonzalo.  It’s a good thing that Pipa didn’t return the head rub, otherwise he’d end up with gel all over his hands and he’d have to miss a moment of the celebration to go clean them.

Some tweets that I liked from former/current teammates.  Jordi wanted Iker for president, “Welly” was gracious, Miguelito showed his madridista heart and MFC was sad that he missed the party (had he not been on national team duty, he would have made the trip to Valencia along with Juanfran).

More Sergio to cheer you up – this time it’s his chest that’s uncovered – and a slightly clearer version of the Sergio-Manu hat dance.

Our fans have a lovely sense of humor, no?  This guy was pleading with Messi to send a ball into the stands in his direction, just like he did during the Liga game at the Bernabéu.  The fan even helpfully provided a target.  Meanwhile, some Barcelona fans – culés indeed, literally and figuratively in a double sense – did this while the national anthem was playing.  HOW RUDE.  (Click only if you’re on a diet and it’s good for you to lose your appetite.)

More celebration moments.  I didn’t realize that Adebayor took the wig from Marcelo (maybe they were trying to become twins?) and that Cris and Pepe didn’t take part in the dive, because they were busy posing with the trophy!  Watch out for Iker being five seconds later than everyone else.

A shot of Iker before the game.  He’s so lovely.

And finally, a couple more pre-game moments: Xabi instructing Cris, complete with hand motions, and Benzema and Zizou having a moment.  It appears that Zidane has done wonders with Karim, no?  He seems a lot more extroverted!
