I can’t believe the season is almost over!
Sergio Ramos presented the fourth edition of the charitable golf tournament organized by the Apascovi Foundation yesterday, where of course he was asked about a bunch of non-related things.
Regarding the Marcelo-Busquets incident, Sergio said, “UEFA has enough capable persons to make a decision. Only those two know what happened. There are images and each one has their opinion, and I’m not anyone to judge anything. I have not asked Marcelo about it.” Regarding the effects of the four clásicos on La Roja, Sergio said, “I’m not the only one to say that it would be a big mistake to allow it to affect us. There is a fantastic group and a fantastic team. Obviously, people have seen many things and they could think that there will be polemics or that we won’t get along, but I hope it won’t affect us.” Sergio also coincided with Iker that the season Madrid has played deserves an eight, and also congratulated Barcelona on winning the Liga.
Besides Sergio, other notable names who will attend the tournament include José Mourinho, Zinedine Zidane, Pepe, Raúl Albiol, VDB, Filipe Luis, Pepe Reina, José Mercé… It will take place on May 17, with proceeds to benefit the reconstruction of the installations of the foundation.
And let’s talk about the outfit. The red jeans look like the ones Sergio wore one year ago, while presenting last year’s edition of this event. He’s worn the shirt before too, I think at the beginning of the last season, and the belt as well (belts with such a big designer buckle always bring images of Sergio and Cris having a tug-of-war over it in the store, because both want to buy it, to mind). Even if Sergio’s not always the best dressed, as least he’s frugal, no? He recycles and recombines his outfits!
More charitable events: as mentioned yesterday, the Real Madrid Foundation presented their own charitable golf tournament yesterday, helped by Jerzy Dudek and Manu Adebayor, who regaled the attendees with a golf lesson – the former was the teacher and the latter the pupil. The tournament will take place on May 23 at the Retamares golf club.
And on Monday, the club will present the second edition of the charitable Corazón Classic Match, under the slogan “together for Africa.” The game will be held on June 5 at the Bernabéu and will pit a team composed of Real Madrid veterans against one composed of Bayern Munich veterans. Proceeds will benefit the Proyecto África to develop schools opened by the foundation in the continent. The ad features Zidane, Figo and Emilio Butragueño as the Madrid veterans, so I guess we can at least expect to see the three of them, plus they also mention Fernando Redondo, El Moro (Morientes), Helguera, Suker and Mijatovic.
Also on Monday, the foundation and publisher Pigmalión Ediciones will present the book “El campo de Bucéfalo” at the Bernabéu, with proceeds from the sales of the book to benefit the foundation. The only reason why this news caught my eye is because Iker will be there.
Madrid will train this afternoon before traveling to Vila-real for their second-to-last Liga game of the season.
Tweets: Gonzalo Higuaín finally tweeted for the second time in five months (remember how excited we all were when Álvaro announced that Pipita was joining twitter?) to say that he knows it’s been a long time, that he’ll be back in Argentina in a few days and to wish us all a good day. Meanwhile, Álvaro himself was excited to be watching Entourage this weekend, and Sergio went to see Dani Martín, and left us this photo with actor Fernando Tejero. Why couldn’t Sergio have been invited up on stage to sing a duet with Dani? And the outfit… where do I start? I hope he never, ever wears it again. It needs to be burned.
And congratulations to the Benjamín A team, who are celebrating their alirón, after beating Canillas A 3-1 to mathematically win their division, with two games left. Benjamín A has a a stellar record of 21-0-0 (!!!!!!!!) this season, and they’ve scored over 10 goals seven times. The kiddies are the sixth championship team of the cantera this season. Watch a cute video of them celebrating here.
And going back to this post here, just when I thought all the clásico madness was dying down, they sort of start all over again. I don’t like that the madness forced both clubs to pretty much act as if they were in kindergarten, because the announcement from Madrid was basically saying, since they tattled to the teacher, we have to as well (it sounds worse in the English translation than it does in the Spanish original). Very immature, no?
Related to this, I think it’s funny how even after Barcelona won the Liga, several of their people stopped their celebrations to say something about Madrid. Sandro Rosell had to tell everyone that he didn’t expect a congratulatory call from Madrid, the crowd chanted Mou’s “¿por qué?,” Puyol and Pinto alluded to Mou as well… If this isn’t obsession, I don’t know what is.
A fun video of Sergio Ramos, Raúl Albiol, Ricky Carvalho and Sergio Canales playing in a futgolf (football + golf) tournament yesterday at Valdebebas, along with some fans. It’s probably harder than it looks, because Sergio C. was the only one to get the ball in the cup. All four were also interviewed after.
Sergio didn’t make this shot…
We find out that Sergio has always been into sports and that he likes tennis, swimming when he was small, basketball, and that he would choose Sergio C. as his partner for futgolf (out of the three other players present). As for Albiol, he likes watching tennis and F1, and playing tennis and padel. And he would pick Sergio to be his partner for this, because he’s known him the longest and because he likes playing golf. Ricky also likes playing tennis, but doesn’t have much time for that between football and his family, and is unable to choose which of his teammates he would pair up with. As for Sergio C., he likes watching sports live, but he doesn’t have much time to play any other ones.
And I’m pretty sure you’ve all seen this video of Iker trying out different looks already. I think this is related to his sponsorship deal with Philips’ razor, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see what it’s all about.
