cómo se nota la sangre andaluza

June 1, 2011

There’s not much news; this is all we’ve got.

He’s definitely got arte: Spanish singer Huecco is currently preparing his new song “Dame vida” (Give me life), and he has collaborated with a variety of athletes, from Jorge Lorenzo to Fernando Verdasco to Pepe Reina, as well as our very own Sergio Ramos!

In his segment, Sergio is seen playing the cajón flamenco, and according to Huecco, he also raps!  Of Sergio, Huecco observed, “qué arte, he was so impressive with his ball technique in one square meter, and one of the surprises of the video is his duende while playing the cajón flamenco… you can totally see his Andalucían blood.”

“Dame vida” is the first single off of Huecco’s new album, and the song is a tribute to sports and renewable energy through music.  Proceeds will go to help out Haiti (the players are seen kicking a ball around, and with each touch, energy accumulates until it has enough energy to reach Haiti).  Short clips will be released each day until June 2, when the finished product will be presented in Providence, the “headquarters” of La Roja during their American trip.

I can’t wait to see the finished product!  And Sergio looks like he had a great time, no?  Watch the little clip here.

Ins and outs: the players may be on vacation, but the front office is still working, deciding which players will be leaving and which ones will be coming in.  José Mourinho wants 23 or 24 players on the first team, but right now we have 28 under contract, so that means some will be shown the door.  One of those is of course Jerzy Dudek, who already said goodbye to the club and the fans.  He’s the only confirmed departure at this point, to go with five confirmed entrances: Sahin, Altintop, Callejón, and the return of Mateos and Drenthe.  The first four will have a spot, but it looks like the club will be dispensing of Drenthe’s services.  As for Adebayor, it will cost €16 million to buy him, and he’s willing to reduce his salary demands in order to stay.  Madrid would like him to stay, but they’re not willing to pay that much to contract his services or for his salary.  It looks like the players whom Madrid are willing to negotiate for are Garay (his contract runs through to 2014), Lass (Mou wants him to stay, but he wants to leave), Drenthe (he has one year left on his contract), Gago, Canales (the club will only loan him out or sell him with a buyback option) and Peter Lion (who apparently doesn’t want to leave).

Meanwhile, Madrid has told Getafe that they won’t pay to recover Dani Parejo, as his buyback option expires on June 30.  Getafe, on the other hand, is interested in Madrid loaning out to them MFC, Sarabia and Juanfran.

On the international front: Sami Khedira is all recovered from his muscle injury and will be available to play in Germany’s upcoming 2012 Euro qualifiers on June 3 and June 7.

And four madridistas made Argentina’s Copa América pre-convocatoria.  Three were expected – Pipita Higuaín, Eze Garay and Ángel di María – and one was not… Fernando Gago, as he’s only played seven games this season, due to his 195 days on the injured list.  I guess this means that his wedding might have to be postponed?  The team will begin preparations for the tournament on June 8, when the list is reduced from 26 to 22 players.

By the way, on the press release facilitated by the Argentine football federation, they listed Garay’s club as “Benfica.”  Do they know something we don’t?

Go Norwich City!  The English club has prohibited a fan from ever entering their stadium again, after he tweeted racist comments about the club’s new signing James Vaughan, who has Trinidadian origins.  The club’s explanation was that they “don’t tolerate any type of racism.”  The fan has since apologized.

I’d love to see Sergio Busquets show up next season to the Bernabéu to play Madrid, only to be prohibited from entering the stadium!  By the way, during La Roja’s training session yesterday, while the players were lying down and stretching, Busquets placed his hands on his face.  I think it’s gotten to the point where it’s just pure reflex, instead of any calculated actions on his part, because it’s something he does all the time now.

I absolutely adore this! Sergio looks super hot and I think it’s a great idea overall 🙂
    I heard about Pipita’s and Alvaro’s leaving…. I really don’t want that to happen….

Ahhh pony. He such a cutie!

Sergio Busquets – just reading about him pisses me off. I wonder how Alvaro and all can play nice with him *knowing* what he’s like and what he did. I know that they don’t really have a choice, but still…

I know that this is silly, but I’m feeling bad that the Pipa/Eze bromance will be broken up. 😦 I know that I’m being illogical here but ah well.

Lastly, I really want Adebayor to stay!!

I loved your remark re Sergio Busquets. But kicking him out for his shameful behavior is just a dream as long as Villar is the dictator of Spanish football.

Ramoooooooooos, his laugh I will never get tired of his laugh/smile. He looks happy and HOT too! Oh sergio.

I love Garay, it feels like am one these few fans who really support this guy! He is a great defender, but injury prone this is the problem, it is heart-aching but if we are not using him, then yeah sell him, the guy has future. Canales too, I dont want ruin his talent, if he doesnt have place, loan him too. Leon same story, if Lass doesnt accept the bench, he will be a trouble-maker, however if he does, I dont mind keeping him. Gago I know he has potentials BUT again same case as Garay, give him his chance to shine out-side.

” I’d love to see Sergio Busquets show up next season to the Bernabéu to play Madrid, only to be prohibited from entering the stadium “. Oh Una what a great idea! CAN WE DO THAT! oh my god, that would be a perfect situation, he escaped unpuished for what he did! Please Madrid do it.

Ok. Wait. Sergio RAPS? RAPS?!?!?! As in like JayZ and Eminem?! Well, not LIKE them, of course, but I guess attempting to be like them… And since he doesn’t speak English fluently yet (why hasn’t he hired you yet, Una?) am I to assume that he raps in Spanish?!?!?

Goodness me, there must be video evidence of this somewhere!! For the love of Sergio’s green pants, let’s find it!

  9. June 2, 2011 02:34

que bonita! let’s hope Sergio raps better than Oezil because the one video I’ve seen of Oezil rapping wasn’t tooo great (he’s still adorable, but it wasn’t great, honestly).

Did anyone see the Man Utd players pick up Busquets when he started rolling around during the Champions League final? The secret is out!

I am interested to see how the team shapes up over the next few weeks and I am hoping to go to the game in Philly if I can convince some friends to tag along. It is lonely over here, not so many Madridistas!

    Hi Una!

Do you have a link or a website you can send me to with that bit of info on Pedro Leon. His story is very interesting to me because of his position within the club and him not wanting to leave is VERY interesting with the way he was utilised this year.

That is why I’m eager to know the source of that…thanks Una!

Never mind, Una. I found the article on AS. Thanks anyway!

Did someone say “Sergio”, “flamenco”, and “sangre andaluza” in the same post? I AM HERE! This looks like it should be amazing, and I would like to encourage further collaboration of La Roja players with musical artists. (Also I would totally buy an album of flamenco/rumba/copla/anything covers by Sergio, Pepe, and Villa. Just saying. RFEF might want to look into that.)

Although I’m not sure how I feel about, say, Benz and Mesut’s fledgling rap careers. Leave it to the experts, boys!

On the transfer market, I’d say the only thing that surprises me is Peter Lion not wanting to leave. Just… why?! Why? Love of Madrid is admirable, as is a bit of suffering for said love, but good golly miss Molly, after the season he’s had, I’d be on the first ticket out, hoping I hadn’t driven my career into a ditch at 24!

(And on your fantasy re: Busquets… I had the greatest mental image of him showing up at the Bernabéu, only to be zapped by a magical anti-racist fence – like those electronic ones they have for pets – and fall down clutching his face. It’s not very nice of me, but hey…)

    • June 2, 2011 16:32

My mental image was him walking into the stadium, being met by a security team and summarily escorted back to the team bus by five or so security guards, and as soon as they grab a hold of him, he falls down clutching his face.

Good to see our mental images align so well! Not that it requires much imagination, mind.

Please can they just loan bb Sergio Canales out. I’d really hate to see him leave Madrid!

Of course, Sergio Ramos. That man. I have no words. !!!

  15. June 2, 2011 19:59

    oh, he’s just being Sergio….

His cute little face is adorable and the part with the ball is hot.

I cannot wait to see the whole clip once it’s ready!

    • June 2, 2011 20:00

Okay, I see now that “the part with the ball is hot” does not sound exactly like I wanted it to sound LOL I meant, OF COURSE, the part of the video when he is doing tricks with the football ball …;_)
