following Real Madrid…

a trophy or a work of art?

AS has a picture of the Copa del Rey trophy – you know, the one that Sergio Ramos dropped in front of the bus – in today’s edition.  The Cup is currently being exhibited in the museum of the Spanish football federation in Las Rozas (I wonder if Sergio visited his old friend while he was there with the national team?), and I’m sure it will be a crowd pleaser.

It appears that the jeweler responsible for making the Cup either decided not to fix it, or it was simply impossible, because as you can see, it’s still broken and in several pieces, with dents all over the place.  In any case, this Cup is now probably one of the most famous in the world, and it would be a shame to cover up its unique history, no?  And doesn’t it now look more like some kind of art installation than a trophy?
